This study analyzed the structural characteristics of news discourse on industrial accidents in South Korea by applying text-mining techniques to major media reports from 2024. A total of 8,053 news articles were collected and preprocessed, followed by keyword frequency analysis, PFnet-based keyword network analysis, and Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) topic modeling. The results indicated substantial monthly variation in reporting volume, largely driven by major accident events. Core concepts such as “accident,” “safety,” “worker,” “government,” and “company” emerged as central nodes in the discourse. PFnet analysis revealed that key semantic structures were organized around accident descriptions, safety management, policy and legal frameworks, and broader social contexts. Topic modeling identified six latent themes: (1) legislative and policy decision discourse, (2) regional industrial accident issues, (3) accident occurrence and initial response, (4) safety management and risk factors, (5) workplace accidents and corporate responsibility, and (6) labor and social structure issues. These findings demonstrate that industrial accident news is not limited to incident-based reporting but reflects multidimensional narratives shaped by policy, governance, and social structural factors. This study provides foundational evidence for improving industrial safety policies and advancing public understanding of industrial accident issues.

본 연구는 2024년 국내 주요 언론사의 산업재해 관련 보도를 대상으로 텍스트마이닝 기법을 적용하여 뉴스 담론의 구조적 특성을 분석하였다. 총 8,053건의 뉴스 텍스트를 수집하여 전처리한 후, 키워드 빈도 분석, PFnet 기반 키워드 네트워크 분석, 그리고 Latent Dirichlet Allocation(LDA) 토픽모델링을 수행하였다. 분석 결과, 월별 보도량은 특정 시점의 대형 사고에 따라 큰 변동을 보였으며, ‘사고’, ‘안전’, ‘노동자’, ‘정부’, ‘기업’ 등이 담론의 중심 개념으로 나타났다. PFnet 분석에서는 사고·안전관리·정책·사회구조 등의 의미 축이 핵심 연결망을 구성하였다. 토픽모델링 결과, 산업재해 보도는 (1) 국회·정책 결정 담론, (2) 지역 기반 산업재해 이슈, (3) 사고 발생 및 초기 대응, (4) 안전관리 및 위험 요인, (5) 작업 중 사고와 기업 책임, (6) 노동·사회 구조 이슈의 여섯 개 잠재 주제로 구조화되었다. 본 연구는 산업재해 뉴스가 단순한 사고 보도를 넘어 정책·제도·사회구조적 관점을 포괄하는 다층적 담론으로 구성되어 있음을 확인하였으며, 산업안전 정책 수립 및 사회적 인식 개선을 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있다.
