This study examined citizens’ awareness, utilization, satisfaction, and needs regarding local child care services in City G, a population-decline concern area, to inform regionally customized child care policy. Descriptive statistics were applied to data from a 2024 online survey designed and administered by the authors in cooperation with the City G Local Council, targeting caregivers of children aged 0–12. Residents perceived child care services as highly necessary, yet awareness and use of specific public programs were relatively low, while school- and community-based services such as after-school programs, elementary care classrooms, and community child care centers were most preferred. Overall satisfaction was moderate, and respondents emphasized operating hours, program diversity, physical space, and staffing as key areas for improvement, alongside a need for extended evening and weekend services and more flexible or emergency care. These findings provide empirical evidence for designing a City-G-specific local child care model and form a basis for linking municipal services with the nationwide Neulbom integrated care system to be expanded after 2025.

본 연구는 인구감소 관심지역으로 분류된 G시를 대상으로, 지역 아동돌봄서비스에 대한 시민들의 인식, 이용 현황, 만족도 및 개선 요구를 체계적으로 파악하고 지역 맞춤형 돌봄정책의 방향을 모색하는 데 목적 이 있다. 이를 위해 G시 지역협의체와 협력하여 연구자가 직접 설계·실시한 2024년 설문조사에서, 만 0~12 세 자녀를 둔 보호자를 대상으로 수집한 자료를 활용하여 기술통계 분석을 수행하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 시 민들은 전반적으로 돌봄서비스의 필요성을 높게 인식하고 있었으나, 주요 서비스의 인지도는 상대적으로 낮 아 정보 접근성의 제약이 확인되었다. 둘째, 이용 경험이 있는 경우 초등 방과 후·초등돌봄교실·지역아동 센터 등 ‘학교 및 지역 기반 돌봄’ 선호가 두드러졌다. 셋째, 만족도는 전반적으로 중간 수준이었으며, 불 만족의 원인으로는 운영시간 부족, 공간 협소, 프로그램 다양성 부족, 돌봄 인력 부족 등이 제시되었다. 넷 째, 개선 요구는 야간·주말 돌봄 확대, 긴급·틈새 돌봄 체계 구축, 서비스 간 정보 통합, 전문 인력 확충 등으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 G시형 지역 돌봄정책의 설계에 필요한 경험적 근거를 제공하며, 2025년 이후 확대되는 ‘늘봄학교’ 체계와의 연계 전략을 마련하는 데 기초자료를 제시한다는 점에서 의의를 가진다.
