Objective: This study aims to establish a foundation for continuous oral health education by comparing and analyzing the current state of oral health education in elementary, middle, and high schools, and to suggest future directions for the development of oral health education by investigating the perceptions of health teachers, who are the main actors in oral health education. Methods: A survey was conducted on oral health education operation and content and awareness of oral health education among health teachers belonging to the Gyeonggi Province Health Teachers Association. Results:: Oral health education was primarily conducted in elementary schools, resulting in a lack of continuity across disciplines. Furthermore, oral health education goal setting and content development were inadequate, and post-training evaluations were lacking. Furthermore, consistency in content across disciplines was lacking, and training was primarily delivered in one-off sessions. Furthermore, awareness of the need for oral health education among school nurses tended to decline as schools advanced. Conclusion: In summary of the above results, it was confirmed that there is a need to develop a systematic and standardized program based on raising awareness of the need for oral health education among school nurses, and to provide continuous and consistent oral health education through this program.

본 연구는 초·중·고등학교에서 이루어지고 있는 구강보건교육의 실태를 비교·분석하여 지속적인 구강보건 교육의 토대를 마련하고, 구강보건교육의 주체인 보건교사의 인식을 조사함으로써 향후 구강보건교육의 발전 방향을 제시하고자 경기도 보건교사회 소속 보건교사를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 이 중 구강보건교육을 시행하고 있는 113명의 보건교사를 대상으로 구강보건교육 운영 및 내용에 관한 응답을 분석하였으며, 141명의 보건교사를 대상으로 구강보건교육 인식에 관한 문항 응답을 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 구강보건교육은 주로 초등학 교에서 이루어지고 있어 학제 간 연속성이 부족한 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 구강보건교육의 목표 설정과 교육 내용 개발이 미흡하며, 교육 후 평가도 이루어지지 않는 것으로 확인되었다. 아울러 학제 간 교육 내용의 일관성이 부족하고, 교육은 주로 일회성으로 이루어지고 있었다. 더불어 상급학교로 갈수록 보건교사의 구강보건교육 필요 성에 대한 인식이 낮아지는 경향이 확인되었다. 이상의 결과를 종합하였을 때 보건교사의 구강보건교육 필요성에 대한 인식 제고를 바탕으로 체계적이고 표준화된 프로그램을 개발하고, 이를 통해 지속적이고 일관된 구강보건교 육이 이루어져야 할 필요성이 확인되었다.
