This paper critically examines how the rapid development and diffusion of artificial intelligence (AI) affects human rationality, ethical judgment, autonomy, and well-being. Drawing upon Hegel’s master-slave dialectic, the study analyzes the reversal of agency in human-AI relations and proposes Aristotle’s virtue ethics as a philosophical counterpoint. Central to this approach is the concept of phronēsis, not as mere technical reasoning for efficient means, but as an ethical capacity grounded in moral character, practical deliberation, and the discernment of the just and the good in particular situations. This study argues that phronēsis should inform the ethical responsibilities of AI designers and organizational actors. Moreover, it explores how AI can function not only as a tool to be controlled, but as a mirror and magnifier that reflects the moral shortcomings and unjust structures embedded in human practices. Finally, this paper outlines institutional and policy implications, while raising questions about cultural interpretations of virtue and the integration of virtue ethics into actual AI governance. Ultimately, it seeks to articulate a philosophical foundation through which both technological progress and human moral development may proceed in tandem.

본 논문은 인공지능(AI)의 급속한 발전이 인간의 합리적 사고, 윤리적 판단, 주체성, 그 리고 번영(human flourishing)에 미치는 영향을 철학적으로 분석한다. 아울러 AI 설계와 활용 과정에서 발생하는 책임 구조를 비판적으로 검토하고, 이에 대한 윤리적 대안을 제시 한다. 특히 헤겔의 ‘주인-노예 변증법’을 활용하여 인간과 AI 사이에서 나타나는 권력 역 전 현상을 진단하고, 이를 극복하기 위한 이론적 틀로 아리스토텔레스의 덕윤리(virtue ethics)를 채택하였다. 이 과정에서 실천지(practical wisdom)를 단순한 기술적 능력이 아니라 도덕적 품성과 숙고를 통해 정당한 판단을 내리는 능력으로 규정하고, 이를 AI 설 계자와 조직의 핵심 윤리 기준으로 제시한다. 나아가 AI를 단순한 통제 대상이 아니라, 인 간의 부덕한 품성과 사회 구조의 문제를 비추는 ‘거울’이자 윤리적 ‘확대경’으로 기능할 수 있는 존재로 논증한다. 끝으로, 정책적·제도적 함의와 문화적 차이에 따른 윤리 해석의 다양성을 논의하며, 기술과 인간이 동시에 윤리적 성장을 도모할 수 있는 철학적 기반을 모색한다.
