The Korean Musicological Society is the most representative academic society in the field of Korean musicology. It was founded in 1948, has a history of nearly 80 years, and has over 400 active members. This society holds four regular academic conferences and publishes two academic journals each year, contributing to the development of Korean musicology. Looking back at the activities of the Korean Musicological Society over the past 10 years, from 2015 to 2024, a total of 290 papers were presented through 37 academic conferences, and a total of 228 papers were published in 20 academic journals. This is a truly remarkable achievement, as it further solidifies the academic breadth and depth of Korean musicology. In order to continue the academic achievements that the Korean Musicological Society has made so far, the Society needs to make its own efforts to attract new researchers. To this end, I would like to propose the following several action plans: First, we must actively encourage new researchers to present their papers, and provide diverse academic conference stages and separate sessions where they can present their work without pressure. Second, we must explore various forms of research support programs that can encourage research by emerging researchers. Third, to foster a balanced workforce of researchers in both the metropolitan area and the provinces, we must foster regional research talent and promote the development of regional studies through methods such as active regional traveling academic conferences. Fourth, we must play a role in opening up opportunities for academic solidarity and communication through academic activities such as special lectures for new researchers and research meetings where mid-career and new researchers can participate together. While the direct responsibility for training research personnel may lie with universities, the space in which they operate as scholars can only be the academic forums provided by academic societies. In other words, the academic society has a responsibility to nurture secondary research personnel, and to this end, the academic society needs to listen to more opinions from new researchers and make efforts to be reborn.

한국국악학회는 한국음악학 분야의 가장 대표적인 학회로, 1948년 발족하여 그 역사가 80년에 가까우 며, 400명이 넘는 회원이 활동하며, 매년 ‘상ㆍ하반기 국악학 전국대회’와 ‘난계 국악학 학술대회’, ‘학문후 속세대 석ㆍ박사 졸업논문 발표회’의 총 4차례 정기 학술대회를 개최하고, 6월과 12월에 학술지 한국음악 연구를 발간하며 한국음악학의 발전에 기여하고 있다. 2015년부터 2024년까지 최근 10년 동안 한국국악학회의 활동을 돌아보면, 19차례의 ‘상ㆍ하반기 국악 학 전국대회’, 8차례의 ‘난계 국악학 학술대회’, 10차례의 ‘학문후속세대 석ㆍ박사 졸업논문 발표회’를 통해 총 290편의 논문이 발표되었고, 20권의 학회 학술지 한국음악연구가 발간되며 총 228편의 논문이 수록 되었다. 이는 한국음악학의 학문적 넓이와 깊이를 더욱 공고히 한 것으로, 매우 큰 성과가 아닐 수 없다. 그간 한국국악학회가 이룩해온 학문적 성과를 향후에도 지속시키기 위해서는 성공적인 세대교체를 이루 어야 하고, 이를 위해 신진연구자들의 유입을 위한 학회 자체적인 노력이 필요하다. 이를 위해 다음의 몇 가지 활동 방안을 제안하고자 한다. 첫째, 신진들에게 적극적인 논문 발표를 권유하고, 신진들이 부담 없이 자신의 글을 발표할 수 있는 다양한 성격의 학술대회 무대 및 별도의 세션을 마련할 필요가 있다. 둘째, 신진들의 연구를 고취시킬 수 있는 다양한 방식의 연구 지원 사업을 모색해야 한다. 셋째, 수도권과 지방의 고른 연구자 양성을 위해, 적극적인 지역 순회 학술대회 등의 방법을 통해 지역 연구 인력 양성 및 지역학 발전을 이끌어야 한다. 넷째, 신진연구자를 대상으로 한 특강이나 중견과 신진들이 함께 할 수 있는 연구 모임 등의 학술 활동을 통해 학문적 유대와 소통의 장을 열어주는 역할을 해야 한다. 연구 인력 양성의 직접적 책무는 대학의 몫이라 할 수 있으나, 학자로서 그들이 활동하는 공간은 학회가 마련한 학술의 장일 수밖에 없다. 즉, 학회는 2차적인 연구 인력 양성의 책무가 있고, 이를 위해 신진들의 의견을 더 많이 청취하고 거듭나려는 학회의 노력이 필요하다.
