조선 후기에 유가는 표면적으로는 급제자의 기쁨과 그 집안의 영광을 드러내는 행사였지만 이면 적으로는 급제자와 재인ㆍ광대의 공동 경제 행위의 성격을 가졌었다. 유가를 통해 급제자와 재인ㆍ 광대가 각각 이익을 추구하면서 다음과 같은 양상이 나타났었다. 1. 급제자는 유가에서 많은 수입을 올려 유가 경비를 충당하려 했고, 재인ㆍ광대 역시 많은 보수 를 받고자 했으므로 양측은 때로 충돌했다. 2. 급제자와 재인ㆍ광대 사이에는 유가 수익을 2:1로 분배하는 관례가 있었다. 3. 급제자는 유가 수입을 올리기 위해 부민(富民), 사찰, 점중(店中), 마을 등에서 강제로 축의금 을 거두어 사회적 갈등을 유발했다.
