This study investigates the typological patterns of collective efficacy—a construct integrating social cohesion and informal social control—in Korean communities. Using data from the National Crime Victimization Survey 2022(N=15,397), Latent Profile Analysis identified four distinct community types: High-High, Average, Low-Low, and Low-High. Each type exhibited unique socio-demographic characteristics and perceptions related to disorder and fear of crime. In particular, the Low-High type community showed low social cohesion but strong informal social control, reflecting urbanized social networks. Findings suggest that treating collective efficacy as a unidimensional construct may obscure its differential effects on crime and fear. This study underscores the criminological importance of disentangling and recombining the two components when examining community-based crime control mechanisms and proposes a more nuanced analytical approach to collective efficacy within the context of South Korea.

집합효율성(Collective Efficacy)은 사회적 응집력과 비공식적 사회통제가 결합된 개념으로 지역사회의 범죄 억제 효과를 설명하는 주요 이론이다. 그러나 그동안 우리 사회를 대상으로 한 다수의 실증 연구에서는 이론적 기대와는 달리 일관되지 않은 결과들이 보고되어왔다. 본 연구는 기존 선행연구의 혼재된 연구결과 에 대한 원인으로, 사회적 응집력과 비공식적 사회통제로 대표되는 집합효율성의 두 구성요소에 대한 한국적 맥락에서의 고려 없이 통합변수로 사용되었다는 인식을 기반으로 한다. 이 연구에서는 사회적 응집력과 비공식적 사회통제의 결합 유형을 실증적으로 도출하기 위하여 한국형사ㆍ법무정책연구원의 ｢전국범죄피해조사 2022｣ 자료(N=15,397)를 통해 잠재프로파일분석, 일원분산분석, 다항로지스틱 회귀 분석을 실시하였다. 주요 분석 결과, 사회적 응집력-비공식적 사회통제에 대한 4가지 유형(High-High형, Average형, Low-Low형, Low-High형)이 도출되었으며, 각각의 유형별로 사회인구학적ㆍ지역사회 인식 적 특성이 다름을 확인하였다. 이 연구에서 도출된 결과를 바탕으로 집합효율성의 두 구성요소에 대한 논의를 통해 한국적 맥락에서 지역사회 유형 분류의 적용 필요성과 가능성에 대해 제안하였다.
