In this study, effects of App Inventor-based education for secondary school students were systematically summarized by performing a meta-analysis. After applying the selection criteria to the pool of eligible literature, five primary studies were selected. The overall effect size of App Inventor– based education implemented with secondary school students was 1.247, indicating a large effect size. According to the analysis of subgroups of the dependent variables, the effect sizes were 1.608 for the affective domain and 1.353 for the cognitive domain. Future researchers and educators should design programs emphasizing that students can develop a deeper understanding of content knowledge and apply it effectively to solving real-world problems through coding.

본 연구는 중등학생들을 대상으로 실시된 앱 인벤터 기반 교육의 효과를 메타분석을 통해 체계적으로 정리하고자 수행되었다. 연구를 위해 분석 대상 논문 중에서 선정 기준을 적용하여 모두 다섯 편의 개별 연구가 수집되었다. 연구 결과, 중등학생들을 대상으로 실시된 앱 인벤터 기반 교육 프로그램의 전체 효과크기는 1.247로 높은 효과를 보였다. 종속변인에 대한 하위그룹 분석 결과, 정 의적 영역의 효과크기는 1.608, 인지적 영역의 효과크기는 1.353으로 나타났다. 추후 연구자와 교사 는 코딩을 통해 중등학생들이 교과 내용을 보다 심층적으로 이해하고, 이를 실제 문제 해결 과정에 효과적으로 적용할 수 있도록 돕는 프로그램을 설계해야 한다.
