LLocal museums play a crucial role in helping residents understand the region they belong to, based on its history and culture, thereby fostering regional identity. While many museums today operate diverse educational programs, research on the effectiveness of education in enhancing regional identity and its utilization strategies remains insufficient. This study analyzed how students can enhance their regional identity through local museum education, focusing on the Cheongju Early Printing Museum’s “Museum Outside the Classroom” program. The research method involved surveys and observational analyses of participating students to assess the program's impact on improving regional interest, regional attachment, interest in regional culture, and pride in the region. The results show that educational programs centered on Jikji, which is registered on the UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register, and the culture of movable metal type demonstrate how education utilizing unique local historical resources can be expanded into learning experiences that strengthen regional identity. However, if improvements are made—such as deepening linked storytelling, incorporating local history content into the educational structure, and adding participatory learning methods—the museum could play a more active role as a regional educational resource. This study is significant in that it presents concrete examples of how local museums can educationally utilize regional cultural resources and explores directions for enhancing regional identity.

지역박물관은 해당 지역의 역사와 문화를 바탕으로 주민들에게 자신이 속한 지역에 대한 이해를 돕고, 이를 통해 지역정체성을 형성하는 데 중요한 역할을 한다. 오늘날 많은 박물관이 다양한 교육 프로그램을 운영하고 있지만, 지역정 체성 향상에 미치는 교육의 효과와 그 활용방안에 대한 연구는 부족한 실정이 다. 본 연구에서는 지역박물관 교육으로 학생들이 지역정체성을 어떻게 향상할 수 있는지 살펴보기 위해 청주고인쇄박물관 ‘교실밖 박물관’을 중심으로 분석 하였다. 연구방법은 참여 학생을 대상으로 한 설문조사와 관찰조사 분석을 통 해 프로그램이 지역관심도, 지역애착도, 지역에 대한 자긍심 향상에 미치는 영 향을 확인하였다. 연구 결과 유네스코 세계기록유산 󰡔직지󰡕와 금속활자 문화를 중심으로 한 교육 프로그램은 지역의 고유한 역사적 자원을 활용한 교육이 지 역정체성 함양에 긍정적인 학습 경험으로 확장될 수 있음을 보여준다. 다만 연 계 스토리텔링을 심화하고, 교육 구성에 지역사 관련 내용을 포함하며, 참여적 학습 방법을 추가하는 등의 보완이 이루어진다면 박물관이 지역의 교육자원으 로서 보다 적극적인 역할을 수행할 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구는 지역박물관이 지역 문화자원을 교육적으로 활용할 수 있는 구체적 사례를 제시하고, 지역정 체성 향상을 위한 방향을 모색하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
