This paper analyzes Kim Jae–nam’s Japanese atomic bomb novel Moonflower in the Darkness(暗やみの夕顔, 1989). It regards instances in which literary “representation” does not converge on the duality of “speaking for” and “re–presentation” as possessing a floating quality. The study examines the novel’s representation of exposure as a perpetual disaster and the patterns through which it reproduces the testimonies of Korean atomic bomb survivors. Furthermore, it identifies problematic aspects of the protagonist’s affect and attitude toward the disaster victims’ bodies and testimonies. It shows that this representation generates a new affect—a collision and eruption of so– called persistent relations—between the reader and the work, which opens up the possibility of transitioning toward mourning and political action. Moreover, it examines how disaster narratives that create sustained relationships with disaster victims generate new affect in readers and contribute to the creation of a desirable future through the inheritance of memory. In doing so, it highlights the crucial importance of their repetitive representation and of the act of reading.

본고는 재일 작가 김재남(金在南)의 일본어 원폭소설 「어둠의 박꽃」(暗やみの夕顔, 1989) 을 분석대상으로 삼아, 문학에서의 ‘재현’이 ‘대변’과 ‘다시–제시’라는 양의성으로 수렴되지 않는 지점들을 부유하는 성질의 것으로 보며 이 작품이 영속적 재난으로서의 피폭이 갖는 의 미와 한국인 피폭자의 증언을 재현하는 양상을 고찰하였다. 또, 재난 당사자의 신체와 증언을 대하는 주인공의 정동과 태도의 문제점을 짚어내어, 그 재현은 독자와의 사이에서 이른바 지 속적인 관계의 충돌과 분출이라는 새로운 정동을 생성하며 애도와 정치적 행동으로의 이행 가능성으로 연결된다는 점을 밝혔다. 나아가, 재난 당사자와의 지속적인 관계를 만들어내는 재난서사는 독자에게 새로운 정동을 생성하게 함과 더울어 기억의 계승을 통한 바람직한 미 래 만들기로 이어지는 바, 그 반복적 재현과 독서 행위가 중요할 수밖에 없다는 점에 관하여 고찰하였다.
