This paper analyzes the process of transforming the concept of the Heavenly Dog(天狗) in China into the Dengu(天狗) faith from a new perspective of ‘cultural technology of care’. Unlike China, where celestial bodies were excluded and attacked as a symbol of disaster and confusion that caused solar eclipses and lunar eclipses, Japan has been reborn as a two–sided mountain spirit that tests and protects its practitioners by fusion with Buddhism and mountain faith. This change was not simply to eliminate fear, but to promote the psychological well–being of the community and give meaning to it in connection with the long tradition of Japanese sprit and Western leaning(和魂洋才), which embraces foreign cultures and maintains the Japanese spirit. Ultimately, the study emphasizes that the logic of integration and coexistence in the process of changing the Dengu(天狗) faith has historical continuity with the nursing(介護) culture and social care system of modern Japanese society.

이 논문은 중국의 천구(天狗)관념이 일본으로 전래되어 덴구(天狗) 신앙으로 변모하는 과 정을 ‘돌봄의 문화기술’이라는 새로운 관점에서 분석하고 있다. 중국에서 천구가 일식과 월식 을 일으키는 재앙과 혼돈의 상징으로 배제와 공격의 대상이었던 것과 달리, 일본에서는 불교 와 산악신앙(수험도)과 융합되어 수행자를 시험하고 보호하는 양면적인 산의 신령으로 재탄생 했음을 보여준다. 이러한 변용은 두려움을 단순히 제거하는 것이 아니라 내면화하고 의미를 부여하여 공동체의 심리적 안녕을 도모하는 문화적 실천이었으며, 이는 외래문물을 수용하되 일본적 정신을 유지하는 화혼양재(和魂洋才)의 오랜 전통과 연결된다. 궁극적으로 이 연구는 덴구 신앙의 변용 과정에 나타난 통합과 공존의 논리가 현대 일본 사회의 개호(介護) 문화와 사회적 돌봄 시스템에까지 역사적 연속성을 가지고 있음을 강조하고 있다. 그리고 이 보고서의 핵심 분석 틀은 ‘돌봄의 문화기술(ケアの文化技術)’이라는 개념이다. 여 기서 ‘돌봄’이란 단순히 약자를 보살피는 행위를 넘어, 외부의 위협이나 집단적 두려움과 같은 부정적 요소를 이해하고 새로운 의미를 부여함으로써 공동체의 심리적 안정과 영적 안녕을 도모하는 모든 문화적 실천을 의미한다. 중국의 천구가 일본의 덴구로 재창조된 과정은, 외부 로부터 온 두려움의 상징을 공동체의 안녕을 위한 자원으로 전환시킨 ‘돌봄의 문화기술’이 어 떻게 작동했는지를 보여주는 탁월한 사례이다.
