This study examines the representation of the female android in postwar Japanese science fiction, focusing on Hirai Kazumasa's Android Oyuki(1969). The character Oyuki is an artificial being created to fulfill male desires; however, she develops emotions indistinguishable from those of humans, thereby destabilizing the boundary between human and non-human. Her love, which transcends mere programmed function, originates from a fundamental desire for identity—to become human. This dynamic symbolizes the process by which humanity, in expanding its desires through technology, simultaneously risks losing the essence of its own humanity. Thus, Android Oyuki can be understood as a work that raises a fundamental question about whether human emotions and ethics can be authentically reproduced within a technological civilization. Furthermore, Oyuki represents a modern transformation of the yokai Yuki-onna from Japanese folklore, illustrating the transference of supernatural fear into the psychological anxiety of a technologically advanced society. While Yuki-onna once evoked fear from beyond the boundary between nature and humanity, Oyuki is reinterpreted as an artificial being yearning for love within the internal boundary of humans and machines. This transformation reveals how the traditional image of the monstrous and excluded yokai is reimagined as an introspective figure that reflects human desire and anxiety, rather than remaining solely an object of fear. Ultimately, Android Oyuki articulates postwar Japan’s sexual desire and anxiety toward technological civilization, demonstrating the capacity of the SF genre to function as a form of modern mythology that reflects on the essence of human existence and emotion.

본 연구는 히라이 가즈마사의 『안드로이드 오유키』를 중심으로 전후 일본 SF 장르에서 여성형 안드로이드가 어떠한 이미지로 형상화되고 있는지를 고찰하였다. 작품 속 오유키는 남성의 욕망을 충족시키기 위해 제작된 인공적 존재이지만, 인간 과 유사한 감정을 지니게 되면서 인간과 비인간의 경계를 불안정하게 하는 존재로 그려진다. 그녀의 사랑은 단순한 프로그램의 작동이 아니라 인간이 되고자 하는 정 체성의 욕망에서 비롯된 것이며 이는 인간이 기술을 통해 욕망을 확장시키는 동시에 인간성의 본질을 잃어가는 과정을 상징한다. 따라서 『안드로이드 오유키』는 기술문 명 속에서 인간의 감정과 윤리를 재현할 수 있는가라는 근본적인 물음을 제기하는 작품으로 이해할 수 있다. 또한 오유키는 일본 전통 설화 속 요괴 유키온나의 현대적 변형으로 이해될 수 있다. 자연과 초자연의 경계에 존재하며 공포를 유발하던 유키온나와 달리 오유키는 인간과 기계의 경계 내부에서 사랑을 갈망하는 존재로 해석된다. 이와 같은 변용은 전통적 요괴 이미지가 공포와 배제의 대상으로 머무르지 않고, 인간의 욕망과 불안 을 비추는 내면적 존재로 변주하는 과정을 보여준다. 결국 􋺷안드로이드 오유키􋺸는 전후 일본 사회에 내재한 성적 욕망과 기술문명에 대한 불안을 교차적으로 드러내며 SF 장르가 인간 존재와 감정의 본질을 성찰하는 현대적 신화의 장르로 확장되고 있음을 보여준다.
