This study analyzes the historical foundation of the Korean Wave in Japan, focusing on the interaction between Zainichi Korean cultural practices and Japanese experiences of Korean culture from 1945 to 2005, which culminated in the phenomenon during the 2000s. Unlike existing studies that explain Hallyu as a product of the cultural industry or policy achievement, this paper approaches it as a process of ‘cultural co-evolution’ accumulated over 60 years. Zainichi Koreans constructed the sense and meaning of ‘Koreanness’ within Japanese society through magazine publishing, literary translation, creative activities, and everyday culture. Magazines such as Democratic Joseon and Quarterly Samcheonri produced discourses on Korean culture, while translators like Ahn Woo-sik reconstructed Korean literary sentiments in Japanese. Food cultures such as yakiniku and kimchi introduced and embedded Korean sensibilities into Japanese culinary taste. Simultaneously, Korea's democratization movement, Seoul Olympics, and Korea-Japan World Cup transformed Japanese perceptions of Korea. Japanese intellectuals’ experiences and writings about Korea served as cultural mediators. The interaction of these two axes established the emotional and sensory foundation for Korean culture reception through discursive combination, sensory embodiment, and expansion of mediation structures. This research reinterprets Hallyu not as a short-term phenomenon but as a historical outcome of long-term cultural exchange, and reevaluates the role of Zainichi Koreans as cultural creators through their boundary-crossing practices.

본고는 2000년대 일본 한류 현상의 역사적 토대를 1945년부터 2005년까지 재 일코리안의 문화 실천과 일본인의 한국 체험이라는 두 축의 상호작용으로 분석한다. 기존 연구가 한류를 문화산업의 성공이나 정책적 성과로 설명한 것과 달리 본고는 60여 년간 축적된 ‘문화적 공진화’ 과정으로 접근한다. 재일코리안은 잡지 발행, 문학번역, 창작 활동, 생활문화를 통해 일본 사회 내부 에서 ‘한국적인 것’의 감각과 의미를 형성했다. 『민주조선』, 『계간 삼천리』등의 잡지는 한국문화 담론을 생산했고, 안우식 등의 번역가는 한국문학의 정서를 일본 어로 재구성했다. 야키니쿠와 김치 같은 음식문화는 일본인의 미각에 한국적 감각 을 체화시켰다. 동시에 한국 민주화운동, 서울올림픽, 한일월드컵은 일본인의 한국 인식을 전 환시켰다. 일본 지식인들의 한국 체험과 그 기록은 문화적 매개 역할을 수행했다. 이 두 축의 상호작용은 담론적 결합, 감각적 체화, 매개 구조의 확장을 통해 한국 문화 수용의 정서적･감각적 토대를 닦았다. 본고는 한류를 단기적 현상이 아닌 장기적 공진화의 역사로 재해석하고, 재일코리안을 단순한 매개자가 아닌 ‘문화 창조자’로 재평가했다.
