The purpose of this study was to comprehensively assess the social adaptation experiences of single-person Vietnamese international students in Korea through a variety of surveys and in-depth interviews. Based on the results, the study aimed to propose measures to help them integrate smoothly into Korean society. To this end, 30 first- and second-year students enrolled in Department A at University J completed questionnaires on self-esteem and college life adjustment. The results were statistically analyzed using SPSS 20.0. In-depth interviews were conducted with one female and one male student who scored Level 4 or higher on the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK). The results are as follows. The mean self-esteem of international students was 2.91 (±.395). Among the sub-items related to university life adaptation, academic adaptation was 3.16 (±.331), social adaptation was 3.15 (±.468), personal emotional adaptation was 2.63 (±.605), university environment adaptation was 3.30 (±.689), and the overall score was 3.11 (±.285). The test results showed that there were differences between the two groups by grade in the overall university life adaptation results. Statistically significant differences were found in personal emotional adaptation by grade and in university environment adaptation by Korean language proficiency. In university environment adaptation, there was a significant difference at a statistically significant level between the two groups by grade. The time diaries confirmed that international students spent a lot of time on their studies during the week and mainly worked part-time jobs and leisure activities (media use) on weekends. If they did not work part-time, they would like to devote more time to studying Korean. This study's limited sample size and limited research subjects make it difficult to generalize its conclusions. Therefore, further research is needed to complement this limitation, integrating and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data.

본 연구의 목적은 국내에서 증가하는 1인 가구 중 베트남인 유학생 1인 가구의 한국생활 적응과 관련된 경험을 다양한 설문조사와 심층 인터뷰를 통해 사회적 적응 현황을 다각적으로 파악하고 그 결과를 바탕으로 이들이 한국 사회에 안정적으로 통합할 수 있도록 도움을 줄 수 있는 방안을 제언 하고자 하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 J대학 A학과에 입학한 1~2학년 학생 30명 을 대상으로 자아존중감, 대학생활적응과 관련된 설문지를 받고, 결과는 SPSS 20.0을 이용하여 통계분석하였다. 이 중 한국어능력시험 4급 이상의 여학생과 남학생 각각 1명을 대상으로 일상생활에 대한 사전정보와 설문 결과를 바탕으로 심층 인터뷰를 진행하였다. 결과는 다음과 같다. 외국인 유학생들의 자아존중감의 평균은 2.91(±.395)였고 대학생활적응과 관련된 하위 항목 중 학업 적응은 3.16(±.331), 사회적응은 3.15(±.468), 개인정서적 응 2.63(±.605), 대학환경적응 3.30(±.689), 전체는 3.11(±.285)이었다. 검정 결과 대학생활적응 전체 결과에서 학년별로 두 집단 간 대학생활적응 전체 에서 차이를 보였다. 개인정서적응에서 학년별로, 대학환경적응에서 한국 어 능력별로 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였다. 대학환경적응에서 학년에 따라 두 집단 간에 통계적으로 유의한 수준에서 큰 차이를 보였다. 시간일 지 작성 결과 이들은 주중에는 학업에 많은 시간을, 주말에는 아르바이트, 여가활동(미디어 이용)을 주로 하였고 일을 하지 않는다면 한국어 공부를 하는 데 더 많은 시간을 할애하고 싶다고 하였다. 본 연구는 한정된 연구대 상 및 적은 표본 수로 인해 결론을 일반화하기에는 어려움이 존재한다. 따라서 이를 보완하기 위한 향후 양적·질적 자료의 통합 및 해석을 더한 후속 연구가 이어져야 할 것이다.
