This presentation provides a case study illustrating the outcomes of ethical counseling employing existentialism for a counselee experiencing difficulties with career choice. The purpose is to outline the process of ethical counseling and to demonstrate its potential applicability. Various forms of counseling are actively conducted within school contexts. If school counseling is defined as an activity contributing to students' holistic growth and development, it is also necessary to offer ethical standards or alternatives through counseling interventions. Particularly, given that the decision-making involved in determining one's career aligns with core existentialist propositions, ethical counseling grounded in Sartre’s philosophy can be particularly beneficial in the context of career counseling. However, guidance on practical methods for ethical counseling remains insufficient. Therefore, this presentation aims to provide counselors seeking to implement ethical counseling in schools with an illustrative example. Additionally, suggestions will be offered regarding the scope of application and practical methods for existentialist ethical counseling.

본 발표문은 진로 선택으로 인해 고민하는 내담자에게 실존주의를 활용한 윤리상담을 진행하고 그 결과 를 하나의 사례로 제시함으로써, 윤리상담의 진행 과정의 공유와 윤리상담의 적용 가능성에 대해 제언하 는 것을 목적으로 한다. 학교 현장에서는 다양한 영역에서 상담이 이루어지고 있으며, 상담의 내용과 주제 또한 폭넓게 다루어지고 있다. 학교 상담이 학생의 전인적 성장과 발달에 기여하는 활동이라 정의한다면, 교사와 학생 간에 이루어지는 상담은 학생의 고민과 문제 상황에 대해 공감과 조언을 제공하는 것뿐만 아 니라 윤리적 기준이나 대안을 제공하는 것이 적절한 경우도 상당수 존재한다. 특히 자신의 진로를 결정하 는 것이 실존주의의 기본 명제와 일치한다는 점에서 진로상담 관련 영역에서는 실존주의, 특히 사르트르 의 사상에 입각한 윤리상담이 학생들의 진로 선택에 도움을 제공할 수 있다. 하지만 아직은 윤리상담의 개념이나 활용 방법에 있어 안내가 부족한 실정이다. 이에 본 발표를 통해 윤리상담 경험을 공유함으로써 학교 현장에서 이를 활용하고자 하는 상담자와 예비 상담자들에게 도움이 될 수 있는 하나의 활용 사례를 제시하고자 한다. 나아가 실존주의적 윤리상담의 적용 범위와 활용 방법에 대해서도 제언하고자 한다.
