This study analyzed the effect of adolescents’ excessive fandom involvement—defined as a state of over-immersion in a specific activity that affects one’s daily life and psychological stability—on school adjustment, and examined the mediating effect of sense of community in this relationship. A survey was conducted with 341 middle and high school students in Y District, Seoul. Using SPSS Process Macro (Model 4), the results showed that excessive fandom involvement had a significant positive effect on sense of community (B=.116, t=3.816, p<.001) and a significant negative effect on school adjustment (B=–.078, t=–2.168, p<.05). When both variables were entered into the model simultaneously, excessive fandom involvement had a significant negative effect on school adjustment (B=–.152, t=–4.947, p<.001), whereas sense of community had a significant positive effect (B=.641, t=11.922, p<.001). These findings suggest that while excessive fandom involvement directly hinders adolescents’ school adjustment, its negative effects can be alleviated through the mediating role of sense of community.

본 연구는 청소년의 팬덤활동 과몰입(특정 활동에 대해 과도하게 몰두하여 개인의 일상생활과 심리적 안정에 영향을 미치는 상태)이 학교생활적응에 미치는 영향을 분석하고, 이 관계에서 공동체 의식의 매개효과를 검증하였다. 서울 Y구 중·고등학생 341명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, SPSS Process Macro(Model 4)를 활용한 분석 결과, 팬덤활동 과몰입은 공동체 의식에 정(+)의 영향을 미치며(B=.116, t=3.816, p<.001), 학교생활적응에는 부(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다(B=–.078, t=–2.168, p<.05). 두 변수를 동시에 투입한 모형에서는 팬덤활동 과몰입 이 학교생활적응에 부정적인 영향을 미친 반면(B=–.152, t=–4.947, p<.001), 공동체 의식은 학교생활적응에 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다(B=.641, t=11.922, p<.001). 이러한 결과는 팬덤활동 과몰입이 청소년의 학교생활 적응에 직접적으로는 부정적 영향을 미치지만, 공동체 의식을 통해 그 부정적 영향이 완화될 수 있음을 시사한다.
