The 57th volume of the 『Ijaeango』, written by Lee Jae HwangYun-seok (1729~1791), contains the contents of his past 15 times from 1752 to 1785. The contents can be largely divided into news of past implementations, various preparations for exams, people he met after going up to Hanyang, the scenery of past test sites, and the entire process of returning to his hometown after his past failure. Among them, this paper focused on the landscape of the past test site and the sense of discrimination he felt and grasped through the past test. Its contents are, first, fierce competition and method to occupy a good place in the past test. Second, it is a record of the landscape of writing an answer sheet with a good librarian. Third, it was selected as the manor in Chilseokje (七夕製) but was canceled due to a revision of one or two letters. Fourth, the contents were canceled while trying to put on the re-examination (合考) as the contents of the answer sheet. The discrimination that Lee Jae felt through past tests can be largely divided into discrimination against the Honam area, discrimination in past tests, and discrimination through direct past test experiences. First of all, Lee Jae discussed the unfairness and discrimination of Honam people who were treated differently from their children in the distinguished clan in Hanyang and Gyeonggi area in the past test. Next, he described the discrimination he felt in the competition as a Confucian scholar living in the countryside of the distinguished clan of Hanyang and the local aristocrats in his situation. Third, it is the thought and discrimination of the elected(被選) of Umjik Chambong(蔭職參奉). Fourth, it is Lee Jae's behavior according to the Umjik jaesu(陰職除授). Fourth, measures to improve the past test were suggested. What we examined above is detailed information that cannot be known unless it is a diary of a giant book (巨帙) that 『Ijaeango』. Through this, it is possible to grasp the more detailed landscape of exaggeration and Honam discrimination centered on the past by restoring the fact that it has disappeared from the official record.

이재 황윤석(1729∼1791)이 쓴 『이재난고(頤齋亂藁)』 57권에는 그가 1752년부터 1785년까지 총 15회에 걸쳐 과거를 치른 내용이 수록되어 있다. 그 내용은 크게 과거시행의 소식과 갖가지 응시준비 상황, 한양으로 올라간 뒤 만난 사람, 과거시 험장의 풍경, 과거 낙방 이후 다시 고향으로 돌아온 전 과정으로 나눌 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 이 중에서 과거시험장의 풍경과 과거시험을 통하여 그가 느끼고 파악한 차별의식을 집중으로 살폈다. 그 내용은 첫째, 과거시험의 좋은 자리를 차 지하기 위한 치열한 경쟁과 방법이다. 둘째, 좋은 사서를 대동하고 답안지를 작성 하는 풍경의 기록이다. 셋째, 칠석제(七夕製)에서 장원으로 뽑혔다가 한 두 글자의 수정으로 취소된 내용이다. 넷째, 답안지 내용으로 합고(合考)에 오르려다가 취소 당한 내용이다. 이재가 과거시험을 통해 느낀 차별은 크게는 호남지역에 대한 차별과 이로 인한 과거시험에서의 차별 그리고 직접적인 과거시험의 경험을 통하여 느낀 차별의식으 로 나눌 수 있다. 이재는 우선 과거시험에서 호남출신이 한양과 경기지역의 벌열집 안의 자제와 다른 대우를 받는 불공정성과 차별을 논했다. 다음으로는 한양의 벌열 가문(閥閱家門)과 자신의 처지인 지방사족(地方士族)의 향유(鄕儒)로서의 경쟁에서 느낀 차별을 서술하였다. 셋째, 음직참봉의 피선(被選)에 대한 생각과 차별이다. 넷 째, 음직제수(陰職除授)에 따른 이재의 처신이다. 넷째, 과거시험에 대한 개선책을 제시하였다. 이상에서 살펴본 내용은 『이재난고』라는 거질(巨帙)의 일기가 아니면 알 수 없는 상세한 내용이다. 이를 통하여 관찬기록에서 빠진 사라진 사실을 복원하 여 더욱 자세한 과장의 풍경과 과거를 중심으로 한 호남차별을 파악할 수 있다.
