Legal disputes between believers and between individuals and the church are not only issues of Paul’s time but also frequent occurrences in the modern era, as witnessed in media and society. When examining contemporary lawsuits involving division, factionalism, sexual immorality, and financial misconduct, one inevitably recognizes a reality strikingly similar to that of the Corinthian church. As a result, both calls for self-reflection and voices of criticism arise within the church, while even more painful reproach and misunderstanding come from outside. Christianity is often referred to as a religion of “knowing.” However, to know Jesus Christ is not merely to know about Him, but to truly know Him relationally. This knowledge encompasses the intellectual, emotional, and volitional dimensions of human personality and of faith, and includes the implication of lived action. Therefore, if we truly know Jesus Christ and the gospel, our mission as the church and as believers is to live that knowledge out. Yet in today’s media-saturated environment—such as YouTube and other information platforms—examples of churches that embody the fragrance of Christ are unfortunately hard to find. The context in which Paul found himself is not so different from our own. Situated between 1 Corinthians 5:1–13 and 6:12–20, 1 Corinthians 6:1–11 appears as one of three key moral obstacles facing the Corinthian community. This paper will first examine the social context of Corinth and then explore the legal dispute of 1 Corinthians 6:1–11 through prior research, followed by a biblical and social-scientific interpretation of the passage. The study will conclude by drawing ecclesiological implications, connecting the text to the Ten Commandments, and considering the examples of both Jesus and Paul.

바울의 시대 뿐만 아니라 현대를 살아가는 우리에게도 성도와 성도, 성도와 교회간의 법정다툼이 일어나는 것을 주변이나 매스컴에서 심심치 않게 접할 수 있다. 분열과 당쟁, 음행과 재정문제 등의 소송의 건을 살피다 보면, 고린도교회와 별반 다르지 않은 현실에 맞닥뜨리게 된다. 이로 인해 교회내에서 자성의 목소리와 비판의 목소리가 공존하고 있다. 더 아픈 것은 교회 밖에 서 들려오는 뼈아픈 충고를 넘어서는 비판과 오해이다. 기독교는 “앎”의 종교라고 한다. 예수 그리 스도를 아는 것은 예수 그리스도에 대한 것을 아는 것이 아니라 ‘예수 그리스도’를 알아야 하는 것 이다. 또한 아는 것은 ‘인격의 삼요소, 신앙의 삼요소’를 이루고 있는 지,정,의 의 시작점이자 전체를 포함하고 있는 것이다. 즉, 안다는 것은 행한다는 것을 포함하고 있다는 것이다. 따라서 우리가 예수 그리스도를 안다면, 그 복음을 알고 있다면, 삶으로 드러내야 하는 것이 교회와 성도의 사명일 것이 다. 그러나 유튜브 및 쉽게 정보를 접할 수 있는 매체들 가운데에서는 예수의 향기를 드러내는 교회 공동체의 소식을 접하기 힘들다. 바울이 처한 상황은 우리 시대와 크게 다르지 않다. 고린도전서 6:1-11은 고린도전서 5:1-21과 6:12-20 사이에 위치하면서 고린도 교회의 부정한 세가지 요소, 장애물 중의 하나로 등장하고 있 다.2) 본 논문은 먼저, 고린도의 상황을 살펴보고, 고린도전서 6:1-11 법정소송의 문제를 선행연구를 다루면서 고린도전서 6:1-11의 성경적인 고찰 및 사회과학적 해석으로 이어가고자 한다. 그리고 이를 뒷받침할 수 있는 교회론, 십계명과의 연결점 및 예수님과 바울의 예를 들어 결론을 짓기로 한다.
