This paper explores the missional theology of the Book of Haggai with a particular focus on the theme of repentance and examines its application to missional preaching in the contemporary church. Although Haggai is a brief prophetic book centered on the post-exilic temple reconstruction, its core message emphasizes the spiritual condition of the people rather than the physical rebuilding itself. By analyzing Haggai 2:10–14, the study highlights the contrast between the non-transferability of holiness and the contagious nature of impurity within the framework of Torah, drawing attention to the necessity of genuine repentance before worship and service can be accepted by God. The prophet Haggai acts not only as a messenger of divine judgment and encouragement but also as a teacher of the law, reminding the priests and the people of their covenantal responsibilities. This dual role underlines the theological depth of his message and its enduring relevance. The paper argues that Haggai’s message reflects a broader biblical missional theme in which repentance is the gateway to restoration and blessing. Accordingly, the modern church must reclaim the essence of missional preaching—not merely as outreach or programmatic expansion, but as a proclamation that calls individuals and communities to spiritual renewal and covenantal faithfulness. This study ultimately affirms that the prophetic word in Haggai provides a valuable model for shaping a missional identity grounded in repentance and holiness in the life of the church today.

본 논문은 학개서에 나타난 선교적 사상을 회개의 주제로 중심적으로 분석하고, 그 내용을 현 대 교회의 선교적 설교에 어떻게 적용할 수 있을지를 고찰한다. 학개서는 포로기 이후 성전 재건 이라는 역사적 상황 속에서 선포된 예언서로, 외형적인 건축 활동보다 백성들의 내면적 회개와 정결함을 더 강조한다. 특히 학개 2장 10-14절을 중심 본문으로 삼아, 정결함과 부정함에 대한 율법적 질문을 통해 거룩함의 비전염성과 부정함의 전염성을 대조하며, 진정한 예배와 공동체 회 복의 조건으로서 회개의 필요성을 역설한다. 이를 통해 학개는 단순히 성전 건축을 독려하는 것 이 아니라, 하나님 앞에서의 철저한 회개와 영적 회복을 촉구하고 있으며, 이는 선교의 본질이 단지 외적 확장이나 프로그램에 있는 것이 아니라, 회개를 통한 삶의 변화임을 말해준다. 현대 교회는 학개서의 메시지를 따라 회개와 정결함에 기초한 선교적 설교를 통해 성도들의 내적 변화 와 공동체적 책임을 동시에 강조해야 한다. 본 논문은 학개 선지자의 선포가 오늘날에도 선교적 설교의 모범이 될 수 있음을 밝히며, 교회가 복음의 본질을 회복하고 참된 선교적 정체성을 형성 하는 데 기여하고자 한다.
