Evangelistic preaching aims to guide non-Christians toward the restoration of their relationship with God through conversion. Those who experience conversion are to be incorporated into the church community, where they receive biblical teaching and progress toward spiritual maturity. However, contemporary evangelistic preaching has encountered significant challenges as it has often pursued church growth and numerical expansion, resulting in the overuse of psychological techniques and the expansion of pragmatic advice. Consequently, the core of the gospel—the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ—has become obscured, and there is a growing tendency to be content with temporary emotional responses or mere communal belonging. In this context, Mark E. Dever’s homiletical approach to evangelism offers noteworthy implications. He does not regard evangelism as a strategic act of simply bringing people into the church but rather as the proclamation of the gospel testified in Scripture, with an emphasis on genuine conversion that leads to church membership. Thus, Dever’s evangelistic preaching presents an alternative possibility for overcoming the present crisis in contemporary evangelistic preaching. This study analyzes the limitations of current evangelistic preaching and explores Dever’s homiletical model as an alternative through three dimensions—evangelistic expository preaching, evangelistic theology, and the biblical structure of evangelistic preaching. It then evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of his approach and proposes a constructive direction for the future of evangelistic preaching.

전도 설교는 비그리스도인이 회심을 통해 하나님과 관계를 회복하도록 이끄는 목적으로 한다. 회심을 경험한 그리스도인은 교회 공동체의 구성원으로서 성경이 가르치는 교리를 수용하며 영적 성숙으로 나아가야 한다. 그러나 현대 전도 설교는 교회 성장과 수적 부흥을 목표로 삼는 과정에서 심리학적 기법의 남용과 실용적 조언의 확대라는 문제에 직면하였 다. 그 결과, 복음의 본질인 예수 그리스도의 십자가와 부활이 희미해지고, 청중의 일시적 감정반응이나 공동체적 소속감에 만족하는 경향이 나타나고 있다. 이러한 맥락에서 마크 데버(Mark E. Dever)의 전도 설교론은 중요한 시사점을 제시한다. 그는 전도를 단순히 사람을 교회 안으로 이끄는 전략적 행위가 아니라, 성경이 증언하는 복음 자체의 선포로 이해하며, 참된 회심을 통한 교회의 멤버십을 강조한다. 따라서 데버의 전도 설교론은 현대 전도 설교가 직면한 위기를 극복할 수 있는 대안적 가능성을 보여준다. 본 연구는 현대 전도 설교의 한계점을 분석하고, 그 대안으로서 데버의 전도 설교론을 복음 전도적 강해 설교, 전도 신학, 성서적 전도 설교 구조라는 세 측면에서 고찰하여 그 장단점을 평가하고, 현대 전도설교가 나아가야 할 방향을 제시하고자 한다
