This study aimed to analyze the direct effect of depression on psychological well-being among middle-aged women and to examine the mediating effect of resilience in this relationship. The study participants were 350 middle-aged women residing in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do, who were recruited using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using correlation and regression analyses, and mediation effects were tested following the procedures outlined by Baron and Kenny(1986). The results indicated that, first, depression had a significant negative effect on psychological well-being. Second, depression negatively affected resilience. Third, resilience positively influenced psychological well-being. Fourth, resilience demonstrated a partial mediating effect in the relationship between depression and psychological well-being. Notably, among the sub-factors of psychological well-being, resilience fully mediated the effect of depression on personal growth. These findings suggest the importance of not only reducing depression but also enhancing resilience through counseling and policy interventions to promote psychological well-being among middle-aged women.

본 연구는 중년 여성의 우울이 심리적 안녕감에 미치는 영향을 분석하고, 이 과정에서 회복탄력성의 매개적 역할을 규명하는 데 초점을 두었다. 연구대상은 서울시 및 경기도에 거주하는 중년 여성 350명이며, 유의표집 방법으로 표본을 모집 하였다. 자료 분석은 상관분석과 회귀분석을 실시하였으며, 매개효과 검증을 위해 Baron과 Kenny(1986)의 절차를 적용하 였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 중년 여성의 우울은 심리적 안녕감에 부적 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 우울은 회복탄력성에 부적 영향을 주 었으며, 셋째, 회복탄력성은 심리적 안녕감에 정적 영향을 미쳤다. 넷째, 우울과 심리적 안녕감의 관계에서 회복탄력성은 부 분매개효과를 보였으며, 심리적 안녕감 하위요인 중 개인적 성장에서는 완전매개효과가 나타났다. 본 연구는 중년 여성의 심 리적 안녕감을 증진하기 위해 우울 감소뿐 아니라 회복탄력성 강화를 위한 상담 및 정책적 개입의 필요성을 강조하였다.
