The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of dance instructors’ Instructional Behavior Types on the dance commitment of undergraduate students majoring in dance, and to verify the mediating role of Communication Competence. To achieve this aim, a survey was conducted with 193 dance majors enrolled in universities across Korea over a five-week period from July 2 to August 8, 2025. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 25.0, employing factor analysis, reliability analysis, multiple regression analysis, and mediated regression analysis. The results of the multiple regression analysis indicated that practice–instructional behavior, democratic behavior, and social support behavior of instructors had a positive effect on behavioral aspects of dance commitment, while democratic behavior positively influenced cognitive commitment. Furthermore, the mediated regression analysis revealed that the “understanding others” dimension of Communication Competence partially mediated the relationship between practice–instructional behavior, social support behavior, and behavioral dance commitment. Based on these findings, the study suggests the need for institutional mechanisms and educational programs to strengthen Communication Competence, the establishment of professional dance archives and online repositories, and the implementation of dance skill enhancement programs.

본 연구는 무용지도자의 지도행동유형이 무용전공 대학생의 무용몰입에 미치는 영향을 규명하고 의사소통능력의 매개 효과를 검증하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 2025년 7월 2일부터 8월 8일까지 약 5주에 걸쳐 전 국 대학에 소재한 무용전공 대학생 193명에게 설문지를 실시하였다. SPSS 25.0 통계 프로그램을 이용해 요인분석과 신뢰도 분석을 거친 후, 다중회귀분석과 매개회귀분석을 진행하였다. 다중회귀 분석결과, 지도행동유형의 연습과지시행 동, 민주적행동, 사회적지지행동이 무용몰입의 행위몰입에 정적(+)영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 민주적행동이 인 지몰입에 정적(+)영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 매개회귀분석 결과, 지도행동유형의 연습과지시행동, 사회적지지행동 과 무용몰입의 행위몰입의 관계에서 의사통능력의 타인이해는 부분매개효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 결론적으로 의사 소통능력을 강화할 수 있는 제도적 장치와 교육프로그램 마련, 무용 전문 아카이브나 온라인 자료실 구축, 무용 기술 향상 프로그램 운영을 본 연구의 시사점으로 도출하였다.
