This study investigates foreign audiences’ perceptions and attitudes toward Korean dance, focusing on differences by levels of interest and knowledge. Data were collected from 172 Americans with prior experience viewing Korean dance through an online survey, and analyzed using descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and MANOVA. Results showed that Korean dance was generally perceived positively, especially in terms of diversity, cultural understanding, and racial solidarity. Aesthetic attitudes, such as graceful movements, and social attitudes, such as interpersonal benefits, were also highly valued, while perceptions of social value were relatively lower. No significant differences were found across demographic variables, but higher levels of interest and knowledge were associated with more positive perceptions and attitudes. These findings suggest that interest acts as a motivational driver, while knowledge provides cognitive stability for positive attitudes. To promote globalization of Korean dance, participatory programs, educational strategies, expansion of social value, and digital platforms should be emphasized.

본 연구는 외국인의 한국무용 인식과 태도를 규명하고, 관심과 지식 수준에 따른 차이를 분석하였다. 한국무용 을 관람한 경험이 있는 외국인 172명을 대상으로 온라인 설문을 실시하여 기술통계, 요인분석, MANOVA로 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 한국무용은 전반적으로 긍정적으로 평가되었으며, 다양성과 문화적 이해, 인종의 연대 에 대한 인식이 높았다. 태도에서는 아름다운 동작과 대인관계 효과가 긍정적으로 나타났으나, 사회적 가치 인 식은 상대적으로 낮았다. 인구통계학적 특성에 따른 차이는 없었으나, 관심과 지식 수준이 높을수록 인식과 태 도가 긍정적으로 형성되었다. 결론적으로, 한국무용의 세계화를 위해 참여형 프로그램 개발, 교육적 접근, 사회 적 가치 확대, 디지털 플랫폼 활용이 필요하다.
