This study analyzes the creative process and performance of the graduation dance work Beyond Beauty. The work was created by awakening proprioceptive sense through Somatic learning in Somatics. The Korean ballet scene is dominated by Russian classical ballet repertoires and styles, with dance creation and appreciation being excessively visual-centered. Consequently, dancers often neglect their other senses, and their bodies become objectified and alienated. Additionally, aesthetic consciousness is often standardized. This study challenges these standardized concepts of beauty and explores the unique beauty of individual dancers, implementing and analyzing this process through the work. The purposes of this study are as follows. First, to present the possibilities of dance through sensory awareness beyond visual-centered dance practices. Second, to challenge universal concepts of beauty and present a new aesthetic consciousness. Third, to study the work choreographed by the researcher from a first-person perspective, document it as text, and establish the researcher's own choreographic method to lay the foundation for improving future creative activities. The research method employed was Practice Based Research in Dance. The 5-minute 25-second work fused ballet and Somatic method to create a contemporary ballet piece. The work consists of Chapter 1 "The Beginning of Wandering," Chapter 2 "The Exploration of Beauty," and Chapter 3 "Transcending Beauty." During the creative process, movements naturally derived from proprioceptive sense were composed into dance, focusing on discovering one's own beauty. This study has limitations in not conducting audience research and having a time gap between performance and research, but holds significance in documenting the work as research text. This work represents a quiet challenge to classical ballet in Korea and an attempt to expand ballet's horizons through genre fusion. It is expected that this study will contribute to the activation of Korean contemporary ballet and serve as a reference for ballet choreographers' creative work.

본 연구는 졸업 무용 작품 의 창작과정과 공연한 작품을 분석한 것이다. 본 작품은 소매틱스(Somatics)의 몸공부(Somatic learning)를 통해 고유수용감각(Proprioceptive sense)을 깨워 창작한 무용 작품이다. 한국의 발레계는 러시아 고전 발레 레파토리와 스타일이 주를 이루고 있으며, 무용 작품 의 창작과 향유 방식이 지나치게 시각 중심적이다. 본 연구의 목적은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 시각 중심의 무 용 관행을 넘어 감각을 통한 춤의 가능성을 제시하고자 한다. 둘째, 보편적인 미의 개념에 도전하여 새로 운 미의식을 제시하고자 한다. 셋째, 본인이 직접 안무한 작품을 제1자적 관점에서 연구하여 텍스트로 기 록하고, 이를 통해 본 연구자만의 안무 메소드를 구축해 향후 창작활동을 향상하는데 기반을 마련하고자 한다. 본 연구방법은 실기기반연구법(Practice Based Research in Dance)을 사용하였다. 5분 25초 길이의 본 작품은 발레와 소매틱 메소드(Somatic method)를 융합하여, 컨템포러리 발레 작품을 창작하였다. 작품 은 제1장 '방황의 시작', 제2장 '아름다움의 탐구', 제3장 '아름다움 초월'로 구성된다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 시각 중심의 무용에서 놓치기 쉬운 감각을 회복하여 몸의 자연스러운 흐름과 새로운 움직임 을 발견하였다. 둘째, 기존의 미의식에서 벗어나 자연스러운 몸의 아우라와 개성 있는 춤을 아름다움이 라 발견하였다. 셋째, K.소매틱 메소드(K.Somatic method)와 발레를 융합한 독창적인 발레 작품을 창작하 여 나만의 발레 안무법을 정립하였다. 본 연구는 관객 연구를 수행하지 못한 점과 공연과 연구 시점에 시간 차이가 있다는 제한점이 있으나, 작품을 연구 텍스트로 기록했다는 의의가 있다. 본 작품은 한국의 클래식 발레에 대한 조용한 도전이자 장르 융합을 통한 발레 지평 확장의 시도이다. 본 연구가 한국 컨 템포러리 발레 활성화와 발레 안무가들에게 창작의 참고가 되기를 기대한다.
