In this study, we identified the paper fiber and pigments used in royal palace through scientific inVestigation of the wallpaper with dragon and phoenix pattern and proVide basic information for restoration of the royal palace determined their original locations. First, we carried out paper fiber structure and pigment analysis on the wallpaper with dragon and phoenix patterns and chrysanthemum patterns, and identified the fiber and pigments of the wallpaper used to attach on royal palace. Secondly, we inVestigated the current state of access doors and estimated the original location where the wallpaper was collected at the Hamnyeongjeon Hall. The results of analyzing the pigments used for each color using Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM)-Energy DispersiVe X-ray fluorescence Spectrometer(EDS), it was estimated that painted barium white for white color and phthalocyanine green for green color on the wallpaper with dragon and phoenix patterns, and dolomite for white color and hoganite for green color on the wallpaper with chrysanthemum patterns. Furthermore, as a result of inVestigation of the current wallpaper status and access doors in Hamnyeongjeon Hall, it was determined that the two wallpapers were likely to be on the southeast ceiling on the east side and the northeast ceiling on the north side.

본 연구에서는 용봉문양 도배지의 과학적 조사를 통해 근대기 궁궐에서 사용 된 지질과 안료의 종류를 확인하였으며 원위치를 파악함으로써 향후 궁궐 내 전 각의 복원을 위한 기초자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 첫 번째로, 용봉문양 및 국화문 양의 덕수궁 도배지를 대상으로 지층구조 및 색도분석, 안료 분석을 수행하여 황 실에서 궁궐 도배에 사용된 벽지의 지질과 안료의 종류를 파악하였다. 두 번째로, 덕수궁 함녕전의 공간별 도배 현황과 점검구 자취조사를 수행하여 용봉문양 도배 지가 수습된 원위치를 추정하였다. 각 색상에 활용된 안료를 주사전자현미경-에너지분산형 X선형광분석기(SEM-EDS)를 사용하여 분석한 결과 용봉문양 도배지 의 백색은 바륨화이트, 녹색은 프탈로시아닌그린 등, 국화문양 도배지의 백색은 돌로마이트, 녹색은 호가나이트 등이 사용된 것을 확인하였다. 또한 함녕전 도배 지 현황조사를 통한 원위치 조사 결과 두 점의 도배지는 동측방 남동쪽 천장, 북 측방 북동쪽 천장일 가능성을 제기하였다.
