This study presents an arts-based autoethnographic exploration of a music therapist’s experience as a client in psychotherapy. Analyzing personal journals, music, and art, the study traces the researcher’s therapeutic journey from two perspectives: the immediate experience as a client and the subsequent reflections as a therapist. The findings reveal a process wherein early attachment trauma was addressed through a safe therapeutic relationship, transference was safely navigated, and a previously fragmented professional and personal identity was recovered. Moving beyond prior research that simply recommends personal therapy for therapists, this study offers a detailed, process-oriented account that illustrates how a therapist’s own wounds can be transformed into a therapeutic resource. By demonstrating the connection between attachment trauma, transference, and identity integration, this research provides practical, experiential insights for music therapists navigating similar professional and personal challenges.

본 연구는 음악치료사의 심리치료 내담자 경험을 심층적으로 탐구하였다. 이를 위해 연구자는 자신 의 예술 및 성찰 자료를 자문화기술지 연구 방법으로 분석하고 서술하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 연구 자의 우울 경험은 생애 초기 애착 외상과 깊이 연관되어 있음이 나타났다. 둘째, 연구자는 심리치료 과정에서 전이를 안전하게 다루며 부모와의 관계를 객관적으로 재인식하는 과정을 경험했다. 셋째, 연구자는 내담자 경험을 통해 상실했던 개인적·전문적 정체성을 회복하였다. 종합적으로 연구자는 심리치료 내담자 경험을 통해 애착 외상과 우울을 통찰하고 안전한 치료관계 속에서 변화하며, 음 악치료사로서의 정체성을 형성하고 개인적·전문적으로 성장할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 심리치료의 필 요성을 제시한 선행연구에서 나아가, 그 내담자 경험의 ‘과정’ 자체를 애착 외상과 정체성 회복의 관점에서 심층적으로 탐색했다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 이를 통해 애착 문제로 어려움을 겪는 다른 음악치료사들에게 자기 탐색과 성장에 대한 실제적인 통찰과 경험적 자료를 제공한다.
