The veterinary nursing curriculum has a lot of knowledge and concepts to memorize, which puts a lot of pressure on learners. This study examines key findings from science education and cognitive psychology and proposes pedagogical strategies that may be efficiently implemented in veterinary nursing education. Retrieval practice fosters durable learning by engaging learners in the active information recall process. The spacing effect strengthens memory by distributing study sessions over time. Dual coding enhances comprehension with visual representations. Metacognitive strategies support learners in planning, monitoring, and evaluating their own cognitive processes. Peer teaching promotes collaborative competence through processes of reciprocal instruction and feedback among students. Although these strategies have not yet been widely employed in veterinary nursing educational practice, their deliberate integration by educators holds significant potential for improving the quality of veterinary nursing education. Accordingly, this study recommends that educators in veterinary nursing actively adopt and experiment with these instructional approaches.

동물보건사 전공과목은 많은 암기항목을 포함하고 있어 학습자에게 부담이 크다. 단순 주입식 강의는 장기 기억이나 임상적 적용 능력 향상에 한계가 있다는 점이 지적되어 왔다. 본 연구는 과학 교육학과 인지심리학의 연구 성과를 고찰하 여 동물보건사 교육에 효과적으로 적용할 수 있는 교수 전략을 제시하였다. 회상학습(retrieval practice)은 기억 인출을 통해 장기 기억 및 전이 학습을 촉진하며, 분산학습(spacing effect)은 학습 내용을 일정 간격으로 반복하여 기억의 정착 을 강화한다. 이중부호화(dual coding)는 언어적 정보와 시각적 자료를 병행함으로써 학습자의 이해와 문제 해결을 돕고, 메타인지 전략(metacognitive strategies)은 학습자가 자신의 학습 과정을 계획하고, 점검 및 평가를 실시하여 자기주도 학습을 돕는다. 또한 동료교수법(peer teaching)은 학생들이 서로 피드백을 주고받는 과정을 통해 이해와 협업 능력을 강화시킬 수 있다. 동물보건사 양성기관에서 관련 과목을 가르치는 교수자들이 이를 인지하고 강의에 통합시킬 경우, 동물 보건사 교육의 질적 향상과 학생들의 장기적 성취에 크게 기여할 수 있을 것이다. 따라서 본 연구는 동물보건사 관련 과목 교수자들에게 효과적인 교수 전략들을 실천적으로 시도해 볼 것을 제안한다.
