This study aimed to examine the major-related and psychological characteristics of university students pursuing multiple majors and to identify the factors influencing their career preparation behavior. A survey was conducted with 474 students enrolled in multiple majors at University A, and the collected data were analyzed using multiple regression analysis. The main findings are as follows. First, most students selected multiple majors in fields different from their primary majors, creating diverse combinations of academic paths. Second, students reported distinct differences between the reasons for selecting their primary major and those for choosing their multiple major. Third, students’ major-related and psychological characteristics varied by university affiliation. Finally, academic year, college, type of multiple major, major satisfaction, and psychological characteristics were found to be significant predictors of career preparation behavior. Based on the research results, this study suggests the need to identify and support students who are academically or career-wise vulnerable, and to establish dedicated units within universities that provide specialized major counseling and academic advising. Directions for future research are also discussed.

이 연구는 다중전공을 이수 중인 대학생들의 전공특성과 대학생활 및 심리적 자원을 파악하고, 진로준비행동의 영향요인을 분석하는 데에 목적이 있었다. 이를 위해 수도권 소재 A대학에서 다중 전공을 이수 중인 학생 474명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 다중전공 이수 학생들은 자신의 주전공과 다른 계열의 전공을 다중전공으로 선택하며 다양한 방향으로 전공을 설 계하였다. 둘째, 학생들은 주전공과 다중전공을 선택한 배경에서 차이를 보였다. 셋째, 학생들의 전 공 특성과 대학생활, 심리적 자원을 분석한 결과, 단과대학에 따라 차이가 있었다. 전공만족도, 다중 전공만족도, 대학생활적응, 사회적지지가 가장 높은 학생들은 사범대학이었으며, 공학대학 학생들은 전반적으로 낮은 경향을 보였다. 마지막으로, 다중전공 이수 대학생들의 진로준비행동 영향요인 분 석 결과, 학년, 단과대학, 다중전공유형, 전공만족도, 다중전공만족도, 대학생활적응, 사회적지지가 주 요 영향요인으로 나타났다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 대학차원의 학업·진로 취약 학생 발굴 및 지원의 필요성, 대학 내 전공상담 및 전문 지원 조직 구성의 필요성, 후속연구를 위한 제언을 제안하였다.
