This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the Threat Image Projection (TIP) system in enhancing the training environment for airport security screeners and to propose improvement strategies. A quantitative survey was conducted with 610 security screeners at Incheon International Airport, and follow-up semi-structured interviews were conducted with selected participants. The results revealed significant perceptions of staffing shortages in the departure screening areas, low satisfaction with the current training environment, and a strong need for repetitive, immersive training. A majority of respondents expressed positive expectations regarding the use of TIP-based training. Qualitative analysis further identified key themes such as "training," "TIP," "time," "Manpower," "Feedback," and "Practice," emphasizing the need for enhanced training immersion and administrative support. It should be noted that a portion of the survey data used in this study was based on prior data collected in Kim (2019), presented at the Aviation Security Seminar. The findings suggest that the TIP system can serve not only as an evaluation tool but also as an effective simulation-based platform for enhancing operational readiness. This study provides foundational insights for the advancement of airport security screening training systems and the institutional development of evidence-based education programs.

본 연구는 공항 보안검색요원의 교육 환경을 개선하기 위한 방안으로 위험물이미 지투사(Threat Image Projection, TIP) 시스템의 실효성을 평가하고 개선방안을 제시 하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 인천국제공항에서 근무하고 있는 610명을 대 상으로 양적조사를 실시하고 선정된 참여자를 대상으로 인터뷰를 시행하였다. 그 결과, 인력 부족, 교육환경에 대한 낮은 만족도, 그리고 반복적이고 몰입감 있는 교 육에 대한 높은 요구가 확인되었다. 다수의 응답자는 TIP 기반 교육 활용 가능성에 긍정적으로 평가하였으며 인터뷰에서는 '교육', 'TIP', '시간', '인력', '피드백', '실습' 등의 핵심 주제가 도출되었으며, 교육 몰입도 제고와 행정적 지원 강화의 필요성이 강조되었다. 아울러 설문 자료는 김동민(2019)의 항공보안세미나 발표 자료를 기반 으로 하였음을 밝힌다. 이번 연구는 TIP 시스템이 단순히 위험물 이미지를 반복적으 로 투사하는 것을 넘어 교육 시스템 및 학습 도구로 활용할 수 있는 가능성을 제시 하였다. 본 연구는 공항 보안검색요원의 교육체계의 고도화와 근거기반 교육 프로 그램 제도화를 뒷받침하는 기초적 근거를 제시한다.
