Purpose : This study examines the major technologies and current trends driving the digitalization of trade finance, and explores whether prevailing international trade finance norms and standards are sufficiently equipped to accommodate this digital transformation, with a particular focus on international instruments. Research design, data, methodology : The research conducts a comparative analysis of international frameworks governing the digitalization of trade finance, centered on the foundational principles and core service domains of the Model Law on Electronic Transferable Records (MLETR) and the Uniform Rules for Digital Trade Transactions (URDTT), drawing implications from their similarities and differences. Results : Trade transactions involve multiple stakeholders and exhibit complex overlaps of legal and jurisdictional regimes, making them one of the more challenging areas to digitalize. Nevertheless, promoting the digitalization of trade finance requires a concurrent transformation in stakeholder awareness regarding digital technologies, increased collaboration among participants, and regulatory harmonization responsive to evolving technologies. Conclusions : The digitalization of trade finance is an inexorable trend. Practically, establishing a collaborative culture among diverse stakeholders engaged in trade transactions and fostering changes in perception are essential. On a policy level, close scrutiny of international norms and rules is necessary to ensure alignment with technological advancement, and ongoing education for practitioners and regulators is strongly recommended.

본 논문은 무역금융의 디지털화와 관련하여 주요 기술과 동향을 살펴보고, 무역금융 관련 국 제 규범과 기준이 디지털 전환을 수용할 수 있을 만큼 충분한지 국제규범을 중심으로 탐색한 다. 상기 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 MLETR, URDTT의 기본 원칙, 핵심 서비스 영역을 중심으 로 무역금융의 디지털라이제션에 대한 국제 규범을 비교하고 시사점을 도출한다. 무역거래는 다양한 주체들이 참여하고 법적·관할 규정들이 복합적으로 결합되어 있는 바, 디지털화가 어 려운 분야 중 하나이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 무역금융의 디지털화를 촉진하기 위해 생태계 내 디지털 기술에 대한 인식의 변화 유도, 참여자들 간의 협업, 기술의 발전에 따른 법·제도적 조 화 작업 등이 병행되어야 한다. 결론적으로 무역금융의 디지털라이제이션은 거스를 수 없는 흐름인 바, 실무적으로는 무역거래에 관여하는 다양한 참여자들의 인식 변화와 협업 문화의 정착이 필요하고, 정책적으로는 기술의 발전과 법·제도의 조화를 위해 국제 규범, 규칙을 면밀 히 살피고 관계자들에게 지속적인 교육이 필요함을 시사한다.
