The purpose of this study is to qualitatively analyze the meaning of picture book-linked play experiences of three-year-old children, thereby gaining a deeper understanding of child-led play at this age. To achieve this, the researcher conducted picture book-linked play activities with three-year-old children and collected data through observation logs, photographs, videos, and teacher journals. The collected data were then categorized and analyzed to uncover the meanings behind the children's play experiences. The findings revealed that three-year-old children engaged in play as: (1) autonomous players navigating between the imagination and reality of picture books, (2) seekers of diverse play through connections to everyday experiences, (3) intellectual explorers who voluntarily solve questions, and (4) members of a play community who share and develop play ideas collaboratively. By applying qualitative research methods, this study revealed the competencies of three-year-old children in creating their own play and underscored the educational value of supporting play through picture books.

본 연구는 3세 유아의 그림책 연계 놀이 경험의 의미를 질적으로 분석함으로써 주도적으로 이루어지는 3세 유아의 놀이의 의미를 들여다보고 이해하는데 목적이 있다. 따라서 연구자는 3세 유아를 대상으로 그림책 연계 놀이 를 실행하고 관찰일지, 사진, 동영상, 교사 저널 등을 토해 자료를 수집한 후 놀이 경험의 의미를 범주화하여 자료를 분석하였다. 그 결과 3세 유아들은 ‘그림책 속 상상과 현실을 오고 가는 주체적 놀이자’, ‘일상 경험 연계를 통한 놀이 의 다양한 추구’, ‘자발적 질문 해결을 위한 지적 탐구자’, ‘놀이아이디어를 공유하며 놀이하는 놀이공동체되기’의 모습 이 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 3세 유아의 자발적 놀이 창안 과정에 대해 질적 연구방법을 적용함으로써 3세 유아의 유능성을 발견할 수 있었으며, 그림책을 활용한 유아의 놀이지원의 의미를 발견했다는데 그 의의가 있다.
