This study aims to analyze the influence of parenting attitude on children's subjective well-being and to examine the mediating role of self-esteem in this relationship. In contemporary society, children's emotional well-being is regarded as a core component of life quality, and the quality of parenting environments plays a crucial role in children's psychosocial development. For this purpose, the study utilized data from the 2020 Korea Child Center Panel Study, analyzing responses from 578 elementary school students. Statistical methods including descriptive analysis, t-tests, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, multiple regression, and Sobel test for mediation analysis were employed. The findings revealed that parenting attitude had a significant influence on children's subjective well-being, and self-esteem partially mediated this relationship. In particular, supportive and democratic parenting attitudes enhanced children’s self-esteem and well-being, whereas authoritarian and neglectful attitudes were found to have negative effects. This study highlights the importance of fostering positive parenting attitudes and developing self-esteem in children to enhance their psychological well-being.
