This article argues for the necessity of expanding social structures under the Anthropocene, understood both as a global crisis and a new epochal condition. To this end, it adopts Dipesh Chakrabarty’s tripartite distinction of globe-earth-planet as a central conceptual framework to examine how such an expansion of social structures might unfold. In doing so, the paper applies Anthony Giddens’s structuration theory, particularly the concept of time-space distanciation, to illuminate the process by which social structures are extended. On this basis, it explores the distinctive characteristics of globe, earth, and planetary societies. The study contends that overcoming the crisis of the Anthropocene requires a recognition of the continuous expansion of social structures from the globe to the earth and, ultimately, to the planetary level. This trajectory entails addressing questions of justice among humans, the relations between humans and nonhuman life, and the broader entanglement of living and nonliving entities within the planetary condition. Such an approach offers a potential humanities and social science response to the challenges of the Anthropocene and, furthermore, lays the groundwork for the emergence of a new enlightenment and a renewed philosophical anthropology suited to our time.

이 글에서는 인류세라는 전 지구적 위기이자 새로운 시대적 조건 속에서 사회 구조의 확장이 필요함을 논한다. 이를 위해 디페시 차크라바르티의 글로브(globe)-지구(earth)- 행성(planet) 구분을 핵심 개념으로 삼아 사회 구조의 확장이 어떻게 이루어질 수 있는지 에 대해 살핀다. 이를 위해 본 글에서는 앤서니 기든스의 구조화 이론의 핵심인 시․공간 원거리화 개념을 적용하여 사회 구조가 확장되어 가는 과정을 밝힌다. 이를 바탕으로 하여 글로브, 지구, 행성적 사회가 어떤 특징을 지니는지에 대해 살펴본다. 본 글을 통해 인류 세의 위기를 극복하기 위해서는 글로브-지구-행성이라는 연속되는 사회 구조 확장의 요 청을 살핌으로써, 인간 사이의 정의, 인간과 비인간 생명의 관계, 그리고 인간을 포함한 모든 생명체와 더불어 비생명적 존재가 얽힌 행성이라는 복합적인 사회 구조를 향해 단계 적으로 나아가야 함을 제시한다. 이러한 시도는 인류세의 위기를 극복할 수 있는 인문․사 회학적 해답을 제공할 것이며. 나아가 우리시대에 필요한 새로운 게몽과 철학적 인간학의 출현 가능성의 토대를 모색하는 계기가 될 것이다.
