This study aimed to examine the effect of discrimination experiences on the mental health of social service agents and to verify the mediating role of social isolation in this relationship. A total of 318 social service agents working at social welfare institution in Daegu Metropolitan City and Gyenonsangbuk-do were surveyed. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 28.0 and PROCESS Macro 4.2(Model 4). The results showed, first, that discrimination experiences had a significant positive effect on the mental health of social service agents. Second, social isolation was found to have a full mediation effect in the relationship between discrimination and mental health. These findings suggest that in order to protect the mental health of social service agents, interventions aimed at directly reducing discrimination, as well as, psychological strategies to alleviate the resulting sense of social isolation, should be implemented in parallel. This study provides a theoretical foundation for understanding the psychological difficulties faced by social service agents and offers practical implications for development of mental health promotion policies and interventions.

이 연구는 사회복무요원의 차별경험이 정신건강에 미치는 영향을 확인하고, 이들 간의 관계에서 사회적 고립의 매개효과를 검증하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 대구광역시 및 경상북도 소재 사회복지기관 에서 복무 중인 사회복무요원 318명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, IBM SPSS Statistics 28.0과 Process Macro 4.2(Model 4)을 활용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 사회복무요원의 차별경험은 정신건강에 유의 한 정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 사회복무요원의 차별경험과 정신건강 간의 관계에서 사회 적 고립은 완전 매개효과를 가지는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 결과는 사회복무요원의 정신건강을 보호하 기 위해서는 차별경험을 직접적으로 감소시키는 개입과 더불어, 차별경험으로 인해 유발되는 사회적 고립 을 완화하는 심리사회적 개입이 병행되어야 함을 시사한다. 이 연구는 사회복무요원의 심리적 어려움에 대 한 이론적 기반을 제공함과 동시에, 이들의 정신건강 증진을 위한 정책 및 실천 전략 수립에 기초자료로 활 용될 수 있을 것이다.
