Despite the expansion of dance as a therapeutic modality in response to the increasing demand for psychotherapy, a specific analysis of its social perception and societal role remains insufficient. This study collected a total of 4,181 news articles related to dance therapy in South Korea using BIG Kinds, to examine social perceptions and emerging trends in the field. Articles containing the terms ‘dance therapy’ and ‘dance-based therapy’ were analyzed using keyword frequency and network analysis. The analysis revealed that main keyword such as ‘psychotherapy’, ‘mental health’, ‘depression’, ‘rehabilitation’, and ‘art therapy’. These results provide a basis for the development of dance therapy as an independent field within art therapy, extending beyond its traditional role as a personal artistic practice. Dance therapy, which involves emotional expression and interpersonal interaction through bodily movement, has been shown to be effective in promoting positive effects on emotional recovery and quality of life. This study suggests that dance therapy as a meaningful cultural practice that contributes to public health and social well-being. Furthermore, it highlights the need for multidisciplinary research and institutional policy development to advance dance therapy as a more effective domain within art therapy.

심리치료에 대한 요구가 높아짐에 따라, 무용 또한 치료의 한 분야로 영역이 확장되고 있으나, 사회적 인식 및 역 할에 대한 구체적인 분석은 부족하다. 본 연구는 무용치료에 대한 사회적 인식과 트렌드를 파악하고자 온라인 뉴 스 빅데이터 플랫폼 빅카인즈에서 국내 무용치료 관련 뉴스 기사 총 4,181건을 수집하였다. 검색어는 ‘무용치료’, ‘무용 치료’로 설정하여, 키워드 빈도분석, 관계도 분석, 의미 네트워크 분석을 수행하였다. 분석 결과, 2014년에 기사 건수가 급격히 상승하였으며, 중심 키워드로 ‘심리치료’, ‘정신건강’, ‘우울증’, ‘재활’, ‘예술치료’ 등이 나타났 다. 연관어 분석 결과 1기와 4기에서는 ‘우울증’ 및 ‘정신질환’, 2기와 3기에서는 ‘장애’ 및 ‘장애 아동’에 관한 키 워드가 상위 순위로 도출되었다. 본 연구는 무용치료가 단순한 개인의 예술활동을 넘어 예술치료의 독립적 분야 로 자리매김하기 위한 기초자료로서의 의의를 가진다. 신체 움직임을 통한 감정 표현과 상호작용으로 구성되는 무용치료는 정서 회복 및 삶의 질 향상에 긍정적 영향을 미치며, 공공의 건강과 복지에 기여하는 문화적 실천이 다. 이는 예술치료 영역에서 무용치료의 발전을 위한 다학제적 연구와 정책적 제도화의 필요성을 강조한다.
