The police profession is responsible for maintaining public safety and order, and protecting the lives, bodies, and property of citizens. The most fundamental aspect of this police profession that should be discussed is professional consciousness. Research on the professional consciousness of police officers has been conducted consistently since the 2000s. However, studies analyzing the factors affecting the professional consciousness of female police officers are limited. Therefore, this study attempted to empirically verify the factors affecting the professional consciousness of female police officers. In particular, this study compared and analyzed the factors affecting the professional consciousness of female police officers by rank, focusing on the rank of superintendent. In this study, data on female police officers collected by the Jeju Women and Family Research Institute were analyzed using the SPSS 21.0 program. The research results showed that promotion factors affect the professional consciousness of female police officers in ranks from constable to sergeant. And for ranks above sergeant, job satisfaction and self-development factors affect the professional consciousness of female police officers. In addition, it was found that the gender discrimination factor was not statistically significant in the professional consciousness of all female police officers. These research results suggest that there is a need to present policies on different professional consciousness according to the rank of female police officers. Based on the results of this research, policy suggestions were made to improve the professional consciousness of female police officers.

경찰이라는 직업은 공공의 안녕과 질서유지 그리고 국민의 생명·신체 및 재산 보호 등의 임무를 수행한다. 이러한 경찰 직업에 있어서 가장 기본적으로 논의되어야 할 부 분이 직업의식이다. 경찰의 직업의식에 관한 연구는 2000년대를 기점으로 꾸준히 수행 되고 있다. 하지만 여성 경찰관의 직업의식에 미치는 영향 요인을 분석한 연구는 제한 적이다. 이에 본연구에서는 여성 경찰관의 직업의식에 미치는 영향요인을실증적으로 검증하고자하였다. 특히 본 연구에서는 여성경찰관의 계급에 따른직업의식에 미치는 영향 요인을 비교 분석하고자 경위 계급을 중심으로 구분하여 검증하였다. 본 연구에서는 제주여성가족연구원에서 수행한 여성 경찰관의 자료를 토대로 SPSS 21.0 program을 사용하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 순경부터 경사까지의 계급에 있어서는 승진 요인이 여성 경찰관의 직업 의식에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 경위 이상의 계급에서는 직업에 대한 만족과 자기 계발의 요인이 여성 경찰관의 직업의식에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 모든 여성 경찰관의 계급에 있어서 여성 차별 요인은 직업의식에 통계적으로 유 의미하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과는 여성 경찰관의 계급에 따라 다른 직업의식에 관한 정책에 제시될 필요가 있음을 시사한다. 본 연구 결과를 토대로 여성 경찰관의 직업의식을 향상할 수 있는 정책을 제언한다.
