The purpose of this essay is to share the result of a study that focused on the constitutional patriotism and political education. The bottom line of this paper can be formulated as follows: First, we have to clarify the relationships among the key words related to this theme in the first place, i.e. constitutional patriotism, maturity (autonomy and responsibility), Beutelsbach Consensus and political education. Second, regarding the issues related to constitutional patriotism, we have to pay attention to the tensional relationship between constitutional politics and patriotism, constitutional patriotism and discourse on virtues, and the problem of theory and practice. Third, as far as the relevance of constitutional patriotism for political education is concerned, it seems to be necessary to refer to e.g. political education oriented to maturity as subjective aspect of constitutional principles, significance of constitutional patriotism for political instruction, and political education reflecting the universal perspective of constitutional patriotism. Fourth, constitutional patriotism should be considered as a reference point in the sense of both challenge and task for political education, and, concerning the aspect of possibility of its realization, it seems to be appropriate to take a more differentiated observation and analysis. Fifth, constitutional patriotism cannot be ordered or forced, on the contrary, it can be realized and concretely experienced through practical politics and through attitudes and actions of citizens. In such a context, political education can contribute to activate constitutional patriotism and let it take root.

이 글의 목적은 헌정애국주의와 정치교육의 관계에 대해 살펴보는 데 놓여 있다. 본 연구의 주요 논점은 다음과 같이 요약할 수 있다. 첫째, 본 연구의 주제와 관련된 키워드인 헌정애국주의, 성숙성(자율과 책임의식), 보이텔스바흐 합의, 정치교육의 관계 에 대한 명료화가 필요한 것으로 보인다. 둘째, 헌정애국주의를 둘러싼 쟁점과 관련해서는, 헌정과 애국주의의 긴장관계, 헌정애국주의와 덕목의 담론, 이론과 실천의 문제에 주의를 기울일 필요가 있다. 셋째, 정치교육을 위한 헌정애국주의의 적실성과 관련해서는, 헌법원 칙의 주관적 측면인 성숙성을 지향한 정치교육, 정치수업을 위한 헌정애국주의의 의미, 헌정애국주의의 보편주의 관점을 반영한 정치교육 등을 참조할 수 있다. 넷째, 헌정애국주 의는 정치교육을 위한 도전과 과제로 간주할 필요가 있으며, 실현 가능성의 측면에서는 좀 더 분화된 고려가 적절한 것으로 보인다. 다섯째, 헌정애국주의는 명령이나 지시를 통해 실행에 옮길 수 있는 것이 아니라, 실천적인 정치 및 시민들의 태도와 행위를 통해서 비로소 실현이 가능하며 구체적으로 경험할 수 있다. 이 맥락에서 정치교육은 헌정애국주의를 활성화하고 착근시키는 데 있어서 기여할 수 있다.
