This study aims to develop an objective performance index for Korean professional basketball players using primary and secondary statistics, and to examine whether player compensation by teams reasonably reflects their playing level. The purpose is to provide foundational data for building a comprehensive player evaluation system suited to basketball’s unique characteristics. A total of 194 players registered in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) for the 2023–2024 season were analyzed. Their game statistics and salary data were examined using principal component analysis. Further, correlation analysis and multiple correlation matrix visualization were conducted with R version 4.4.1 x64 to explore the relationship between compensation and performance. Results indicate that primary statistics directly related to scoring and non-scoring actions that support scoring or generate additional offensive chances significantly influence salary determination. Additionally, secondary statistics processed from primary data formed five performance efficiency clusters: Influence Index, Points Efficiency, Rebound Efficiency, Assist Efficiency, and Defensive Efficiency. These clusters showed a positive association with player compensation.

본 연구는 한국 프로농구 선수들의 1차, 2차 stat을 바탕으로 객관적 성과지표를 구축하고 선수들의 경기수준에 따라 구단에서 지급되는 보수가 합리적으로 집행되어 책정되는지 여부에 대한 관련성을 검증하여 농구 종목에 특성에 부합하는 선수 종합평가 시스템 구축에 필요한 기초자료를 제공하는데 연구의 목적이 있다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 2023-2024 시즌 KBL에 등록된 선수 194명을 연구대상으로 선정하고 이들 선수의 경기기록과 보수자료를 바탕으로 연구를 진행하였으며 주성분 분석 방법론을 활용하고 보수와 상관관계분석 및 다중상관 행렬도를 통하여 보수와 경기력 간의 연관성을 파악하하기 위해 R program 4.4.1 x64 버전으로 분석하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 프로농구 선수들의 연봉(보수) 산정에 직접적인 영향과 관계성 1차 stat은 직접적인 득점과 관련된 요인과 비득점이긴 득점과 연계 되거나 공격의 재 기회를 창출할 수 있는 요인들이 보수(연봉)과 연관성이 있음나타남. 둘째, 1차 stat 데이터 기반으로 가공된 다수의 2차 stat은 각 요인 특성에 따라 경기력 효율성 지표인 영향력 지수 요인(Infl.Index), 득점 효율성 요인 (PTS.Effcency), 리바운드 효율성 요인(Reb.Efficiency), 어시스트 효율성 요인(Ast.Efficiency), 수비 효율성 요인 (Def. Efficiency)과 같은 5개의 군집화가 이루어졌으며 이들 군집된 요인에 따라 보수(연봉)산정과는 긍정적 효과성이 있는 것으로 나타남.
