This study conducts a contrastive analysis of Korean ‘관형사’(determiners) and Chinese ‘区别词’(distinguishing words) in order to elucidate the concepts and syntactic characteristics of these parts of speech, which perform a modifying function without undergoing morphological changes. Both categories share the function of modifying nominals, yet they exhibit certain differences under specific conditions. An analysis of their part-of-speech interchangeability reveals that ‘관형사’ primarily overlap with ‘pronouns, numerals, and nouns’, whereas ‘区别词’ show interchangeability with a broader range of categories, including ‘nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs’. Furthermore, in their combinatory patterns with grammatical morphemes, ‘관형사’ are subject to relatively greater constraints, while ‘区别词’ combine more freely and, in addition, tend to diversify their functions through the use of parallelism. Based on these findings, the study ultimately provides a comprehensive account of the syntactic properties of ‘관형사’ and ‘区别词’.

본 연구는 한국어의 관형사와 중국어의 구별사에 대해 품사 통용 양상을 대조 분석하여, 형태 변화 없이 수식 기능을 수행하는 두 품사의 개념적 범주와 통사적 특성을 규명하고자 하였다. 분석 결과, 두 품사는 모두 체언을 수식하는 기능을 수행하나, 세부적 조건에서는 다소 차이를 보였다. 먼저, 품사 통용의 양상을 살펴본 결과, 관형사는 주로 ‘대명사·수사·명사’와의 통용이 관찰된 반면, 구별사는 ‘명사·동사·형용사·부사’ 등 보다 광범위한 품사와의 통용이 확인되었다. 또한 문법소와의 결합에도 관형사는 상대적으로 제약적 양상을 보인 데 반해, 구별사는 비교적 자유로운 결합을 실현하며, 더 나아가 대구법을 활용하여 기능적 다양성을 확대하는 경향을 나타냈다. 이상의 분석을 바탕으로 본 연구는 관형사와 구별사의 통사적 특성을 종합적으로 정리하였다.
