This study investigates the perceptions of Korean films among international students and Korean language teachers, with the aim of providing empirical reference data for the selection of films as instructional resources in Korean cultural education and for the formulation of supportive policy measures. The survey was administered as an exit poll to participants of a special screening of Korean films accompanied by multilingual subtitles. The results highlight the necessity of careful consideration in selecting films for use as Korean language and cultural learning content, as well as the importance of establishing effective strategies for the provision of multilingual subtitles. In particular, the findings underscore the need for systematic human and material infrastructure, along with multifaceted initiatives, to enhance multilingual subtitle services, such as the activation and dissemination of dedicated subtitle applications. Moreover, providing subtitles in learners’ native languages was shown to play a bridging role by lowering the barrier of Korean language proficiency and facilitating both comprehension of the films and deeper cultural understanding through cinematic experiences. Accordingly, the significance of this study lies in its dual contribution: it offers pedagogical insights into the use of Korean films as cultural education materials and simultaneously provides foundational data for the development of policy initiatives from the perspective of the cultural content industry.

이 연구는 외국인 유학생과 한국어 교원을 대상으로 한국 영화에 대한 인식 조사를 통해 문화 콘텐츠를 활용 한 한국 문화 교육의 자료로서의 한국 영화 선정 및 정책 개발의 준거 자료를 제공하는 것을 목적으로 한 것이 다. 한국 영화에 대한 인식 조사는 다국어 자막 지원 한국 영화 특별 시사회에 참석한 외국인 유학생과 한국어 교원을 대상으로 출구 조사 방식으로 실시하였다. 이 연구를 통해 한국어와 한국 문화 학습 콘텐츠로서 영화 선정에 대한 고민과 원활한 다국어 자막 제공 방안이 필요하다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이와 같은 현상을 통해 볼 때, 향후 다국어 자막을 위한 앱 활성화와 같은 다국어 자막 지원 서비스 개선을 위한 체계적인 인적, 물적 지원 시스템 구축과 다각적인 노력이 필요할 것이다. 또한, 학습자의 모국어 자막 제공은 한국어 숙달도라는 장벽을 넘어 영화에 대한 이해와 영화를 통한 한국 문화의 이해로 이어주는 가교의 역할을 하는 것이다. 그러므 로 문화 교육 자료로서의 고민과 더불어 문화 콘텐츠 산업의 입장에서 지원 정책 개발을 위한 준거 자료를 확보 할 수 있었다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
