This study explored the life story of 9-year-old Vietnamese child who experienced the Vietnam War through a Narrative Inquiry method. Through this study, first, the Vietnam War has examined from a child's perspective, second, the roles and responsibilities of family members in the extreme environment of war were examined, and third, the trauma left by the war was not stayed in the past, the participant was able to overcome it in the present and future time in an integrated way. Other previous papers that have been studied from the perspective of soldiers who participated in the Vietnam War, this journal reconstructs the story of an ordinary child in the war to let readers know that war remains traumatic for "Everyone." Moreover, it was an opportunity to understand the value and meaning conveyed by the participants' own "experiences" and make to realize reliving as a researcher.

본 연구에서는 베트남전쟁을 경험한 9살 난 베트남 아동의 삶을 내러티브적으로 탐구하였다. 본 연구를 통해 첫째, 베트남전쟁을 아동의 관점으로 고찰하였고 둘째, 전쟁이라는 극한 환경 속에 가족 구성원의 역할과 책임을 조명해 보고 셋째, 전쟁이 남긴 트라우마를 과거에 두지 않고 현재 그리고 미래의 시간으로 참여자 방식대로 극복해 나가는 삶을 통합적으로 들여다보았다. 기존의 베트남전쟁에 참여했던 군인들의 시각으로 연구된 논문들과는 다르게 전쟁 속에 있던 평범한 아이의 이야기를 재구성하여 전쟁은 “모두”에게 트라우마로 남게 됨 을 알리고자 한다. 더욱이 참여자 개인의 “경험”이 전달하는 가치와 의미를 이해하며 연구자 로서 다시 살기(reliving)를 깨닫는 기회였다.
