This paper analyzes the changing patterns of Hallyu (the Korean Wave) in Vietnam and explores its socio-cultural implications and future prospects. Since the late 1990s, Hallyu in Vietnam has evolved from passive consumption of Korean pop culture—such as K-pop, TV dramas, and cosmetics—into a dynamic cultural phenomenon characterized by the formation of fandoms, cultural reinterpretation, and voluntary civic engagement. Particularly, BTS fans in Vietnam have expanded the scope of fandom through social actions such as environmental campaigns, charitable donations, and educational support, transforming cultural consumption into ethical practices. This study investigates the shift in Hallyu acceptance through multiple lenses, including media ecology, audience agency, fandom culture, and cultural diplomacy. It highlights how Korean content influences Vietnamese youth in terms of identity formation, Korean language learning motivation, and a sense of social solidarity. The findings suggest that Hallyu has become a structured and lasting cultural force in Vietnam. For its sustainable future, culturally sensitive and locally adaptive strategies are necessary to foster mutual understanding and global cultural exchange.

본 논문은 베트남에서 나타난 한류의 변화 양상을 분석하고, 그 사회문화적 의미와 향후 전망을 고찰한다. 1990년대 말부터 시작된 베트남 내 한류 수용은 초기에는 K-pop과 드라마, 한국 화장품 등 한국 대중문화 콘텐츠에 대한 단순한 소비 형태로 나타났으나, 시간이 흐름 에 따라 팬덤의 형성, 문화적 재해석, 자발적인 사회참여 등 다양한 방향으로 확장되며 점차 심화되었다. 특히 BTS 팬덤을 중심으로 환경 보호, 기부, 교육 후원 등의 활동이 전개되며 한 류는 윤리적 소비의 실천으로 진화하고 있다. 본 연구는 베트남 내 한류 수용의 변화를 미디 어 환경, 수용자 주체성, 팬덤 문화, 정부 간 문화외교 등 다각적 관점에서 고찰하며, 문화 수용이 단순한 모방이나 수동적 소비가 아닌 적극적이고 선택적인 문화 실천으로 전환되고 있음을 보여준다. 또한 한류 콘텐츠가 베트남 청년층의 정체성 형성, 한국어 학습 동기 유발, 사회적 연대감 형성 등에 미친 영향도 분석하였다. 결론적으로 베트남에서의 한류는 일시적 유행을 넘어 구조화된 문화현상으로 자리잡고 있으며, 향후 한류가 지속 가능하고 상호문화 적 소통을 이끌어내기 위해서는 지역 특수성과 문화 다양성을 존중하는 전략이 필요하다.
