Objective : This study aimed to systematically review the effects of sensory integration therapy on stereotyped behaviors in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and to explore its applicability as a clinical intervention and research topic. Methods : A literature search was conducted across Dbpia, RISS, KISS, PubMed, and ScienceDirect, covering period January 2005 December 2024. Key search terms included stereotyped sensory Based on the four-phase PRISMA flowchart, seven studies were selected for final analysis. Results : All seven studies reported that sensory integration therapy was effective in reducing stereotyped behaviors. Additional findings included decreases in visual-seeking behaviors and the duration of self-injurious behavior, as well as positive neurophysiological changes and improvements in communication. Conclusion : This review confirmed the effectiveness of sensory integration therapy in reducing stereotyped behaviors among children with ASD and established its clinical relevance. The findings provide evidence for the therapeutic use of sensory integration approaches. Further research is needed to validate the effectiveness across diverse pediatric populations.

목적 : 감각통합치료가 자폐스펙트럼장애 아동의 상동행동에 미치는 영향을 체계적으로 고찰하고, 향후 임 상 및 연구에서의 적용 가능성을 탐색하고자 하였다. 연구방법 : 2005년 1월부터 2024년 12월까지 DBpia, RISS, KISS, PubMed, Science Direct에서 20 년간의 문헌을 검색하였다. 주요 검색 용어로 ‘autism’, ‘ASD’, ‘stereotyped behavior’, ‘sensory integration’, ‘자폐’, ‘감각통합’, ‘상동행동’이며, PRISMA의 Flowchart 4단계를 거쳐 총 7편의 문헌을 최종 선정하였다. 결과 : 선정된 7편의 모든 문헌에서 감각통합치료는 상동행동을 감소시키는 데 긍정적인 효과를 보였다. 특히 시각추구 행동 감소, 자해 행동의 지속 시간 단축, 신경생리학적 변화, 의사소통 기능 향상의 다면 적인 효과를 보였다. 결론 : 본 연구에서 감각통합치료가 자폐스펙트럼장애 아동의 상동행동에 미치는 영향을 체계적으로 고찰하여 중재를 알아보았다. 감각통합치료가 자폐스펙트럼장애 아동의 상동행동 감소에 효과적임을 확인하였고, 임상적 근거를 마련하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 향후 다양한 아동 집단을 대상으로 한 추가 연구를 통해 본 중재의 효과성을 지속적으로 검증할 필요가 있다.
