This paper is a study that illuminates the problems of social conflict and inequality in Korea from the perspective of changes in the social and economic environment and proposes ways to solve them. With the rapid economic growth and spread of individualism, Korea's traditional patriarchal system is being dismantled, and generational conflict due to differences in values is intensifying. According to the UN's World Happiness Report, Korea has a low happiness index among Asian countries, mainly pointed out by low social solidarity and belonging and weak self-directed decision-making rights. In this study, after historically examining the phenomenon of intergenerational conflict and polarization, the origin of the problem of discrimination between women and calligraphy in the Joseon Dynasty was identified. In addition, various problems that may appear in a polarized society were reviewed through the research results of major scholars. Based on this, concrete measures to resolve and alleviate inequality and polarization in our society were also proposed.

본고는 한국의 사회갈등과 불평등 문제를 사회 · 경제환경 변화의 관점에서 조명하고 이를 해소하기 위한 방안을 제시한 연구이다. 급격한 경제성장과 개인주의의 확산으로 한국은 전통적 가부장 제도가 해체되고 가치관 차이로 인한 세대갈등이 심화되고 있다. UN의 세계행복보고서에 의하면 한국은 아시아 국가들 중 행복지수가 하 위권에 머무르고 있는데, 사회적 연대와 소속감이 낮고 자기주도적 의사결정권이 미약한 것이 주요 원인으로 지적되 었다. 본 연구에서는 세대간 갈등과 양극화 현상을 역사적으로 고찰한 후, 조선시대의 여성 및 서자 차별문제의 발단 을 규명해 보았다. 또한, 양극화된 사회에서 나타날 수 있는 다양한 문제들을 주요 학자들의 연구결과를 통해 검토하 였다. 이를 바탕으로 우리 사회의 불평등과 양극화를 해소 · 완화하기 위한 구체적인 방안들도 제안해 보았다.
