The present study investigates the discourses on the Korean Peninsula in the 1980s as represented in the Japanese general-interest journal Sekai, employing methodologies of digital humanities. During this period, the Korean Peninsula was marked by profound political and social upheavals, including the assassination of President Park Chung-hee, the reorganization of the Fifth Republic under Chun Doo-hwan, and the subsequent democratization movements. Against this backdrop, Sekai addressed issues concerning Korea’s political and social conditions, Japan–Korea relations, inter-Korean relations, and the broader diplomatic dynamics of East Asia involving the United States. To analyze these discursive developments, this study selected 129 Korea-related articles from Sekai and conducted both quantitative and qualitative analyses. In the quantitative analysis, keywords were extracted using SudachiPy, and topic modeling was performed by combining the BERTopic method with the KMeans algorithm. This approach revealed that Sekai consistently paid attention to Korean political and social affairs, with a particular focus on Kim Dae-jung. The qualitative analysis, through an examination of representative articles by topic as well as the overall corpus, further elucidated the discursive patterns surrounding democratization movements, collusive ties between Japanese and Korean politics, civic activism, and international relations. Through this digital humanities approach, the study empirically elucidates the structure and significance of Sekai’s discourses on the Korean Peninsula in the 1980s.

본 연구는 일본의 종합지 『세카이』를 대상으로 1980년대 한반도 담론의 양상을 디지털 인문학 방법론으로 살펴보았다. 당시 한반도는 박정희 대통령 암살, 전두환의 제5공화국 개편, 민주화 운동으로 이어지는 정치･사회적 격변기였다. 이러한 상황에서 『세카이』는 한국의 정치･사회 상황, 한일관계, 남북관계, 미국과 동아시아 외교관계 등을 주제로 한반도에 대해 논의했다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 현상에 주목해 『세카이』의 한반도 관련 기사 129건을 선정해 정량･정성분석 연구를 진행하였다. 정량분석에서는 SudachiPy를 기반으로 하는 키워드 분석과, BERTopic 기법과 KMeans 방식을 결합한 토픽모델링을 적용했다. 해당 연구방법론을 통해 『세카이』가 한국의 정치･사회에 주목했으며, 특히 김대중에게 집중했던 사실을 파악하였다. 정성분석에서는 토픽별 대표 기사와 전체 기사를 분석해 민주화 운동, 한일정치 결탁, 시민운동과 국제관계 등의 담론 전개 양상을 파악할 수 있었다. 디지털 인문학적 연구를 통해 1980년대 『세카이』의 한반도 담론의 구조와 의미를 실증적으로 규명할 수 있었다.

本研究は、日本の総合雑誌󰡔世界󰡕を対象に、1980年代における朝鮮半島言説の展開をデジタル･ヒューマニティーズの方法論を用いて解明することを試みた。当時の朝鮮半島は、朴正煕大統領暗殺、全斗煥による第五共和国体制への改編、そして民主化運動へと至る政治･社会的激動期にあった。こうした状況下で、󰡔世界󰡕は韓国の政治･社会状況、日韓関係、南北関係、さらには米国を含む東アジアの外交関係を主題として論考を展開した。本研究では、この現象に注目し、󰡔世界󰡕に掲載された朝鮮半島関連論考129件を抽出し、定量分析および定性分析を行った。 定量分析では、SudachiPy に基づくキーワード分析と、BERTopic手法と KMeans 手法を組み合わせたトピック･モデリングを適用した。その結果、󰡔世界󰡕が韓国の政治･社会動向に注目し、とりわけ金大中に焦点を当てていたことが明らかとなった。さらに定性分析では、トピック別の代表論考および全体記事を精査することにより、民主化運動、日韓政治的癒着、市民運動および国際関係といった言説の展開を把握することができた。以上より、本研究はデジタル･ヒューマニティーズ的アプローチを通じて、1980年代における󰡔世界󰡕の朝鮮半島言説の構造と意味を実証的に明らかにした。
