In recent TV historical dramas, fiction historical dramas, which set virtual history as a worldview regardless of historical sources, are popular. However, due to the short history, research focusing on this is still insufficient. Paying attention to this point, this paper classified the types by common point based on 31 TV historical dramas that could be defined as fiction historical dramas among TV historical dramas aired in the 2010s and 2020s, and then examined what characteristics each had. The type of political drama is similar to the grammar of existing political historical dramas, but it showed a clear narrative of good and evil in the dichotomous view of thinking that distinguishes the younger generation from good and the older generation from evil. The fantasy drama type tried to escape from the familiar and static worldview of historical dramas by incorporating the creators and occult genres, which are in the spotlight in many dramas and movies today, with TV historical dramas. The type of job drama tried to actively communicate with today's public, where most of the office workers are, while focusing on the narrative of male and female protagonists in the profession. The types described in this paper are not absolute, and other genres may be derived depending on the fiction historical drama that will be aired later, or they may have to be excluded from the discussion because they are no longer aired. Nevertheless, this paper believes that it can be significant enough in that it presents the starting point or direction of the study on fiction historical dramas.

최근의 TV사극은 사료의 구애를 받지 않고 가상의 역사를 세계관으로 설정해 그곳을 무대로 펼쳐지는 사극을 통칭하는 픽션사극이 대세를 이루고 있다. 그렇지 만 역사가 짧은 까닭에 아직 이를 중점적으로 논의한 연구가 부족한 실정이다. 이 점을 주목해 본고는 2010~2020년대에 방영된 TV사극 중 픽션사극이라고 규정할 수 있는 31편의 TV사극을 대상으로 공통점별로 유형을 구분한 다음 각각 어떠한 특징이 있는지를 살펴보았다. 정치 드라마형은 기존의 정치사극과 문법이 비슷하 지만, 청년세대는 선, 기성세대는 악으로 구별하는 이분법적 사고관 속에서 뚜렷한 권선징악의 서사를 보여주었다. 판타지 드라마형은 오늘날 많은 드라마나 영화 에서 각광받고 있는 크리처와 오컬트 장르를 TV사극과 접목하면서 익숙하고 정적인 사극의 세계관에서 벗어나고자 했다. 직업 드라마형은 남녀 주인공이 직업에 종사하는 서사를 비중 있게 다루면서 직장인이 대부분인 오늘날의 대중과 적극 소통하려고 했다. 본고에서 서술한 유형은 절대적인 것이 아니며 추후 방영되는 픽 션사극에 따라 얼마든지 다른 장르가 파생될 수도 있으며 더 이상 방영되지 않기에 논의에서 제외되어야 할 수도 있다. 그런데도 본고는 픽션사극에 관해 조촐하게 나마 연구의 시발점이나 방향성을 제시했다는 점에서 충분히 의의를 지닐 수 있다고 여긴다.
