This study analyzes Baek Hee-na's picture books - Magic Candies, Strange Mom and Jangsutang Fairy - from a psychoanalytic perspective grounded in Winnicott's object relations theory. Specifically, focusing on Winnicott's concepts of ‘transitional object,’ ‘transitional area,’ ‘true self and false self,’ and ‘good enough mother,’ this study analyzes the emotional deprivation and alienation experienced by the child protagonists in these picture books, as well as their processes of recovery and growth through play. Baek Hee-na's picture books are not simply children's literature displaying fantastical imaginations. They depict the process by which children, burdened with deficiencies and wounds, integrate their selves through imagination, play, and encounters with fantasy others. In these works, children discover their true selves through communication with transitional object, supplement the deficiencies of reality through encounters with unfamiliar beings, gain emotional stability, and achieve growth as subjects through imaginative play in everyday spaces. This is closely connected to the play experience in the ‘transitional object’ and ‘transitional area’ that Winnicott spoke of, and shows that transitional objects and play serve as important mediators for children to recover their true selves. Therefore, this study presented the therapeutic value of children's literature content by analyzing the emotional development and self-formation process of the main characters in picture books from a psychoanalytic perspective.

본 연구는 백희나의 그림책 『알사탕』, 『이상한 엄마』,『장수탕 선녀님』을 위니캇의 대상관계이론에 기반한 정신분석학적 관점으로 분석한다. 특히 위니캇 의 ‘중간 대상’, ‘중간 영역’, ‘참자기와 거짓자기’, ‘충분히 좋은 어머니’ 개념을 중심으로 그림책 속 아동 주인공이 경험하는 정서적 결핍, 소외, 그리고 놀이를 통 한 회복과 성장의 과정을 분석한다. 백희나의 그림책은 단순히 환상적 상상력을 보여주는 아동문학이 아니라, 결핍과 상처를 지닌 아이들이 상상과 놀이, 환상 속 타자와의 만남을 통해 자아를 통합해 가는 과정을 담고 있다. 이 작품 속에서 아동은 중간 대상을 통한 소통으로 참자기를 발견하고, 낯선 존재와의 만남을 통해 현 실의 결핍을 보완하고 정서적 안정을 획득하며, 일상적 공간에서 상상 놀이를 통해 아동 주체의 성장을 이룬다. 이는 위니캇이 말한 ‘중간 대상’과 ‘중간 영역’에서 의 놀이 경험과 밀접하게 연결되며, 중간대상과 놀이는 아동이 참자기를 회복해 가는 중요한 매개로 작용함을 보여준다. 따라서 본 연구는 그림책 속 주인공의 정 서 발달과 자기 형성 과정을 정신분석학적 관점으로 분석함으로써 아동문학 콘텐츠의 치유적 가치를 제시하였다.
