The purpose of this study is to identify the themes and trends in academic research related to Japanese animation. To achieve this, Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) and Semantic Network Analysis (SNA) are employed to analyze 607 research abstracts. The findings show a steady increase in scholarly interest in Japanese animation, with the main fields of study concentrated in Japanese language and literature, as well as the arts and humanities. Thematic analysis reveals key topics including the potential expansion of the cultural industry related to Japanese animation, narrative and semiotic approaches, the reconstruction of cultural and industrial values, diversification into various genres of popular culture, the status of cultural content in the global market, structural features of animation genres and narratives, and theoretical interpretations and practical applications of traditional culture and literature. These results demonstrate the growing significance of Japanese animation as a multidisciplinary subject of study. In addition, the study highlights the possibility of expanding research into other academic fields such as business and education, indicating broader implications for cultural studies and media-related disciplines.

본 연구는 일본 애니메이션 관련 연구의 주제와 경향성을 파악하기 위해 수행되었다. 이를 위해 잠재 디리클 레 할당(LDA)과 의미연결망분석(SNA)을 활용하여 607개의 관련 연구 초록을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 일본 애니메이 션에 대한 연구는 지속적으로 증가하고 있으며, 주된 연구 분야는 일본어 및 문학, 예술과 인문학 영역이었다. 주제 분석을 통해 도출된 주요 토픽은 ‘관련 문화산업의 확장 가능성’, ‘서사적‧기호적 접근과 활용’, ‘문화적‧산업적 가치의 재창조’, ‘다양한 장르로의 분화’, ‘글로벌 시장에서의 관련 콘텐츠 현황’, ‘장르 및 서사 구조의 특성’, ‘전통 및 문학에 대한 이론적 해석과 실천적 활용’ 등으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 일본 애니메이션이 학제 간 연구 대상으로 주목받 고 있으며, 경영, 교육 등 다양한 분야와의 연계 가능성을 시사한다.
