This study aims to empirically analyze the trends in domestic academic research on folk song education and to propose future directions for research in the field. To this end, 90 articles related to folk song education, published in Korea Citation Index (KCI)-listed journals between 2016 and 2023, were examined using text mining techniques. The analytical methods employed included keyword frequency analysis, latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA) topic modeling, diachronic topic distribution analysis, and co-occurrence network analysis. The results indicate that research on folk song education has been largely categorized into three thematic domains: emphasis on teaching and learning, curriculum-based approaches, and focusing on musical elements. Following the 2015 revised national curriculum, there has been a gradual increase in curriculum-oriented and music-theoretical research. The co-occurrence network analysis identified “music textbook” as a central concept, suggesting that the discourse in folk song education research has been primarily shaped by institutional and pedagogical practices. In contrast, musical and cultural components of folk songs—such as tori (regional melodic modes), sigimsae (ornamentation), and intangible cultural heritage—were found to exhibit relatively low centrality and connectivity, indicating their peripheral position within the research network. Furthermore, despite the rapid expansion of digital teaching and learning environments after the COVID-19 pandemic, research in this field continues to rely predominantly on traditional, performance-based approaches. Studies addressing the changing educational landscape—such as EduTech-based instructional models and strategies for remote learning —remain limited. Accordingly, this study emphasizes the need for multifaceted and integrative research that not only preserves the cultural value of folk song education but also actively responds to the ongoing digital transformation and evolving educational contexts.

본 연구는 민요교육 관련 국내 학술연구의 동향을 실증적으로 분석하고, 향후 민요교육의 연구 방향을 제안하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 2016년부터 2023년까지 발표된 민요교육 관련 KCI 등재 학술지 논문 90편을 분석 대상으로 하였으며, 텍스트 마이닝 기법을 활용하 여 키워드 빈도 분석, 토픽 모델링(LDA), 시기별 토픽 분포 분석, 공기어 네트워크 분석을 수행하였다. 분석 결과, 민요교육 연구는 ‘교수ㆍ학습 강조’, ‘교육과정 기반’, ‘음악 요소 중심’의 세 가 지 주요 주제로 분류되었으며, 2015 개정 교육과정을 전후하여 교육과정 기반 분석과 음악 이론 중심의 연구 비중이 점차 확대되는 양상을 보였다. 공기어 네트워크 분석 결과, ‘음악교 과서’가 중심성을 지닌 핵심 개념으로 나타났으며, 민요교육 연구가 제도적ㆍ교육적 실천을 중심으로 전개되어 왔음을 시사하였다. 반면, ‘토리’, ‘시김새’, ‘무형문화유산’ 등 민요의 음악 적ㆍ문화적 요소는 비교적 낮은 중심성과 결합도로 주변화된 양상을 보였다. 또한, 코로나19 이후 디지털 기반 교수ㆍ학습 환경이 급격히 확산되었음에도 불구하고, 민요교육 분야는 여전히 전통적인 실기 중심 접근에 머무르고 있어 에듀테크 기반 수업 모형, 비대면 교육 전략 등 변화된 교육 환경을 반영한 연구는 부족한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 민요교육이 전통문화 교육으로서의 가치를 유지함과 동시에 디지털 전환과 교육환경 변화에 적극 대응할 수 있도록 다층적이고 융합적인 연구 확장이 필요함을 강조하였다.
