This study compares the ethical perceptions of elite athletes in South Korea and China and explores how each country's sports culture and institutional structures influence ethical judgment and practice. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with eight athletes—four from each country—and analyzed inductively. While athletes from both countries shared core values such as honesty, fairness, and respect, their responses to ethical dilemmas diverged. Korean athletes often relied on open expression and internal dialogue, whereas Chinese athletes tended to remain silent or follow group norms due to hierarchical systems and a performance-oriented culture. Coaches’ influence and institutional operations significantly shaped ethical behavior. Korea’s communication-based systems supported ethical actions, while China’s authoritarian structure and limited institutional effectiveness led to greater conformity to organizational logic. This study highlights cultural and institutional differences in sports ethics and offers insights for future ethical policy and system design.

본 연구는 한국과 중국 엘리트 운동선수들의 스포츠윤리 인식을 비교·분석하고, 각국의 스포츠문화와 제도적 특성이 윤리적 판단과 실천 에 미치는 영향을 고찰하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 양국 선수 각각 4명씩 총 8명을 대상으로 반구조화 면담을 실시하고, 귀납적 분석을 통해 결과 를 도출하였다. 양국 선수 모두 정직성, 공정성, 존중의 가치를 공통적으 로 인식했으나, 갈등 상황에 대한 대응 방식에는 차이가 있었다. 한국 선수는 자발적 표현과 내부 논의로 윤리 기준을 회복하려 했으며, 중국 선수는 위계 구조와 성과 중심 문화로 인해 침묵하거나 집단 논리에 따 르는 경향을 보였다. 특히 지도자의 영향력과 제도 운영 방식은 윤리 실 천에 큰 영향을 미쳤다. 한국은 소통 중심의 구조와 제도 개선을 통해 윤리 실천을 가능케 했으나, 중국은 권위주의적 체계와 낮은 제도 실효 성으로 인해 조직 논리에 종속되는 경향이 두드러졌다. 본 연구는 양국 의 윤리 실천 양상을 문화·제도적 맥락에서 비교함으로써 스포츠윤리 의 문화적 차이를 조명하였다. 이러한 결과는 향후 윤리 정책 수립과 제 도 설계 시 참고 가능한 기초자료가 될 수 있다.
